  1. I Love paradise fish! :bounce: My one is only about 3cm-ish and hes a boy, he's getting quite long fins and a fantastic blue with bright orange stripes. Can't wait to he's bigger as hes much nicer than the full grown ones in my LFS already. All the best with them outside

    Keeping Trout

Hey all Does anyone know the legality around keeping trout ? I've tried google but it just came up with minimum lengths for taking them home and eating them. And I'm gonna be slightly ticked off if keeping them has more restrictions than natives! But I think they will as they're "game fish" ppit.
  6. Ohhhhhh I want some for my outdoor lil rock pool thingie!! I never thought about them outside just got annoyed I can't keep them with my Goldfish. And my LFS always has heaps in stock o0o :bounce: exciting

    Koura

Stella is the expert in this field. During day I always use my hands for koura but another way is to place a net just down stream and disturb all the rocks etc and often the koura just flick backwards into the net. Or chase them round the rocks with a net 8) works good too. OR, get a piece of meat and tie it onto the end of a string and when the crayfish comes out of hiding they clamp down and u can pull them right onto land! usually I use this method for deeper water where I can't quite get in.

    Koura

Yeah ive caught them in kune too. Pity I don't live there anymore otherwise I could show you all the spots up there. The Makara River and the Makotuku River are excellent if you can find them on the map. Do you know where the Ruatiti Domain is??? Theres plenty there and it makes an excellent day out/picnic. :bounce:

Legal to catch and keep. Illegal to sell or put back in the wild. Hope that helps.
