  1. There's probably some junky out there somewhere that has no bacteria in him at all now.
  2. I believe any farm supply store should have similar. Of course, there are far worse things you could spend money on, like those little laser beams that are supposed to make your fish healthier.

    Night Lights

Heh, last time I checked most cars have a 12v electrical system. Cold cathodes are generally also 12v. LEDs, depending on type are around 3.2ish volts, somewhere around there. 12v power supplies are cheap though, even ones that can put out the shockingly huge 200ma power draw needed by your average cold cathode light.
  4. If there that sensitive to the minute traces of copper you'd get off a roof they'd die from just about anything.
  5. Throw it in the tank with the javamoss. Might get it to eat some of that noxious weed.
  6. Nah, copper wouldn't be a problem for fish. And you'd have naturally snail free tank, if that's your thing...

    Night Lights

Yup, red cold cathode would probably be best, other alternative is a handful of red LEDs.
  8. It's already wet? Time to replace it, not much you can do now. Then seal the next one with polyurethane or similar.
  9. Terracotta, Caryl. Normal red bricks should be ok, just give thema good clean beforehand. I don't think they'll melt.
  10. What is the well contaminated with? And RO water is best. Unless you want a $1000/month power bill just to boil water then you can go with distilled. You'll need to add some trace elements back in, Probably just some baking soda, mag sulphate or something should be enough.
  11. Step one: Take kid for a plane trip somewhere exotic. Step two: Sell kid as a slave. Step three: Buy new bigger scratch free tank.
  12. Or any coral, macroalgae, hair algae, rock, pebble, pile of sand, corner or bit of plumbing.
  13. I think 3 times per hour is an absolute minimum. I prefer to aim for more like 5-6 times.
  14. They'd love it! Except they might get hit with the hammer...Or is it just mine that come running when you bang on the tank and beg for food?
  15. Looks like you've got a massive algae problem already.
  16. Yeah, boiling water can help sink it a bit. Otherwise, just throw it in the tank and pile some rocks on top...Or let it float, it'll sink eventually.
  17. Just give it a good hose down to wash any debris off and then you'll need to either wedge it somewhere in the tank to hold it down or weigh it down. Salt is pretty irrelevant, it's not going to hold nearly as much salt as many people even dose their tanks with regularly.
  18. I think he's referring to the algae, not the macroalgae, Reef.

    lot of fish

    Probably around $250 retail.
  20. Those bubbles would be...AIR! That's just your average algae that the air is getting trapped in, I don't know the exact name of it, it's nothing special.
  21. I've had more success simply filtering the algae out. Throw a bunch of filter wool over the intake of the filter and then rinse it out daily for a couple days.
  22. Funny it's always discus, not any of the much nicer cichlids that have similar shapes. Survival of the fittest at work maybe?
  23. Hmmm, Big flat surface not too unlike a large rock or the glass. Not that hard to imagine that a pleco might suck onto it just like any other large flat surface. Personally, if the discus can't shake the pleco off it deserves to be eaten.

    Another heater query

Heh, everyone else always says the opposite. That mountain minnows prefer warmer and their colors are more intense in warm water.

    out door ponds

Unless you're rural, then you can dig the pond as deep as you like.
