    OMG!!!

Problem with that is getting the light spectrum right, not a big deal if you're just going to have fish, but more important with plants.
  2. I've never heard of anyone getting the red ring of death on PS3s.
  3. So, they only stole the xmas decorations? Nothing else? Surely you had something in there that had some kind of actual value.

    OMG!!!

Heh, $500ish NZ for roughly similar light output to a $50 2X1foot fluoro unit with a good reflector. All to save you about $10 worth of electricity per year.
  5. The concave dome in the bottom fits perfectly into the convex dome on the top making them into a much more stable stack on shop shelves. Heh, I dunno, makes sense though.
  6. I'm inclined to think if you don't already understand what those lense millimeters mean you're probably better off not spending so much on a dslr and get a nice prosumer level camera. Many most of the time will take as good pics as a dslr until you start getting into high end lenses and specialty photography, but cost a fraction of the price.
  7. My severums have green and red on them, that's xmas colors, right?
  8. Worn out impeller, clogged media or clogged hoses. There is nothing else.
  9. I find that very unlikely. The symptoms of underfed fish are pretty obvious, sunken stomachs mostly. I believe most sick fish are caused by poor water conditions of which OVERfeeding is the major contributor.
  10. Although, if you do have a spraybar and have it just above the water surface pointing downwards it does give you a nice wall of bubbles.
  11. Ice scrapers would probably work well. But...You don't find many of them around here. They have copper blades which don't scratch glass.
  12. I feed mine once a day, occasionally every second day depending on if I can be bothered or not.
  13. If the glass has been etched by whatever it was there isn't anything you can do, hopefully it's on the inside it will be less visible when the tank is full. Otherwise, try vinegar, might dissolve it.
  14. Heh, I've had similar nightmares to that, except it wasn't a tank. The shower at the house I grew up in was over the bath and it was closed in by glass sliding doors. I'd have dreams that I couldn't turn the water off, I could turn the tap so it was almost stopped but still pouring a bit. Wouldn't have been a big deal but I couldn't get the doors open and it was slowly filling with water until it got to the top and I drowned! And the first time my wife stayed there, guess what happened? The tap broke so the water wouldn't quite turn off!
  15. That wouldn't work very well for killing flies unless you never shower though.
  16. Yeah, definitely looks like dragonfly or damselfly larvae, something like that. I get them in my pond, took me a while to figure out what the apparently big thing making wakes in it was.
  17. If it's between 6 and 7 I wouldn't worry. Rain water changes PH very easily, it's normal for it to be a little under 7 because it does absorb some CO2 from the atmosphere which will drop it a tiny bit.
  18. I think if it's as low as 6 that's abnormal, the PH of pure water is 7.
  19. My pure rainwater has a PH of 7 as close as I can measure which is what the PH of pure water is.

    Koura

    Which of those aren't coldwater?
  21. Not all fixed here, my modem no longer wants to talk to my router! Heh, I don't think it's related though.

    Dwarf flags

    I wasn't referring to males.
  23. Hehe, I was at Gen-i's main offices in Wellington last night and they didn't have any internet access either. They're Telecom's IT outsourcing company. I'm having the same problems here.

    Dwarf flags

Sounds like human breeding to me.
  25. Anyone in Wellington happen to have an infestation they'd be happy to share? I'd like a few hundred snails, not worried about type, they'll be going into a tank outside to breed.
