  1. I'll have to see what's happening a bit closer to the time, I don't think it will be a problem really getting home at 4am.
  2. So, one person refusing to let you see the cat for unknown reasons means the entire Birman cat club(Of which there are two) cannot be trusted? Can you at least post a link to the found ad? Because I couldn't find any found birmans.
  3. Hmmm...I'm actually off that day...Probably a bit much of a drive though.

    Suckers

Agreed, especially if they're common plecs or redspots rather than bristlenoses. "Sucker" doesn't really tell what species it is. A common or redspot will eventually dominate any tank that's not over 6 feet.
  5. It is kind of odd after further thought that they've flat out said "It's not your cat" But obviously I do agree it's extremely unlikely. What are the two different things, Barrie?

    Suckers

26° is perfectly fine. They probably just like the spot.
  7. Unless the cat is chipped or you have something like a paw print which apparently works well as ID even if it IS the same cat you don't have a chance in hell of proving it. Unless those photos show some extremely unique trait they're totally useless. The cats are bred to ideally all look exactly the same. I have three birmans and frequently have to look close at two of them to tell them apart. Also, if I was the person advertising the cat there is no way I'd let you look. Why would I want to risk some con artist or crazy coming and getting all hysterical insisting I stole their cat and trying to get me to give it to them for free?
  8. Given that sonar penetrates flesh there's probably no almost about it.

    Mosquito Larvae

Why not just wave your fish net around to catch them and then throw them straight in the tank?
  10. Try feeding them some oily foods. A bit of a film on the water surface might be enough to toughen up the bubbles a bit? Something to make the bubbles last longer.
  11. Good filter and 30-50% water changes a week+don't feed so much.
  12. You can bruy aquaones for somewhere around 1/4th the price you can bruy an Eheim for. If it lasts 5 years where an eheim lasts 20 you're coming out ahead.
  13. Google "Freeware" or Shareware.
  14. Except...I've done both of those, never had a single loss even when I left the heater off on one of my tanks for two weeks mid winter and didn't discover it until a relatively warm day and found it at 15°. Fish were still perfectly happy.
  15. So far on a scale of 1-10(Ten being best) I'd rate Eheims as a 3, Fluvals 6 and Aquaone 10.
  16. I can sell you some all natural medication that works even better than hypnosis. It's concentrated extract of the South African Placebotus plant.
  17. Two spined spider. It's an aussie invader. Poecilopachys australasiae BTW.
  18. They're good. Not quite as good as eheims but far less expensive. I prefer Aquaone CF1200s though to something like a 404(I guess they're up to 405s now which I haven't seen) because it costs about 1/3 as much and seems much more user friendly.

    Filters

Sorry, they're 1100 liters per hour, Via Aqua VA 1300s. I got two of them from my LPS a couple years ago, had one force feeding my 404 with a dead motor for a couple years.
  20. 1 meter per second is roughly 39 inches per second.
  21. Nope it doesn't change direction on its own. No need in freshwater really, especially in this case when you're kind of trying to replicate a river. Worst case if it is too much flow you could rubber band a bit of filter wool or something over the intakes it would decrease the flow AND give you more filtration.
  22. How much is 8 watts going to heat the water? Not much at all. Certainly not enough to be considered a LOT of heat. They have a very wide, relatively low speed flow. Compare the specs of a seio M620 to say a via aqua 1300 powerhead. Sieo outlet area about 12cm, flow 2400 lph power draw 8 watts. VA1300 outlet 4cm, flow 1100 lph, power draw 15 watts. So, flow speed from the seio is twice the volume through 3 times the area(So a lot slower) and drawing half the power. I've filled up my sink with 10 liters of water(About all it will fit) and put my Seio M820 in it which is 3200lph. Looks like scaled up to 5 times the volume it would probably give a pretty reasonable amount of flow for current loving fish. Certainly slower flows than anything but lazy slow flowing stream. Current looks to be (in the sink) about 6-9 inches per second which is in the region of half a mile per hour. so probably a fraction of that in 5 times the volume. I'm considering throwing it in my SA cichlid tank which at the moment already has something around 5000 lph turnover in 400L.
  23. It means you can receive any kind of blood without an immune reaction to it because you already have the A antigen, the B antigen and the rhesus antigen(Which is the +). So, AB+ can be given anything. O- can't take anything other than O- because their blood doesn't have any antigens at all. But, that lack of antigens means they can give their blood to anyone without causing an immune response.
