Finally got round to setting up the new 1.8 tank. I bought an FX5 . Have to say the filter is FANTASTIC , it was so easy to set up. Obviously I need to do lots more to get this tank finished. There are 7 Clown Loaches ,2 hybrid Parrot fish , 3 black widows, 3 tin foil barbs.I am hoping to get more clown loaches...I will sort out the background next .The hood needs modifying so that is waiting for the other half to sort out .I bought the initial set-up ages ago but decided to get a new tank made by Greg .The lights need changing to fit in the hood. Any way the fish are settled and we are enjoying the tank. Fingers crossed i have added the right code

Make sure you add egg white to the icing otherwise it may not stick together ....

Hi I'm finally getting round to setting up my new tank which is 180cm x60x50.Not going to go stump at this stage. I'm moving my loaches into it . Would you recommend two Eheims or 1 FX5 as I'm thinking one filter won't give enough water movement etc. The tank isn't going to be over stocked well not at this stage.

I finally bought one of those tap adapters to fit on when doing water changes, it works well and as its on the outside tap it gravity feeds so i don't need to leave the tap running.... :happy2: :happy2: :happy2:

Just wondering which way to go.I'm getting ready to set up a tank it holds 570 ish L.It will be understocked So far there will be around 10 Clown loaches 2 Parrot fish and 3 Tin foil barbs... Both the Ehiem 2260 and Fluval FX will be ok .I have Eheims in my other tanks but don't know much about the Fluvals Any thoughts would be much appreciated

I will be a great set up once it has some TLC. The cupboard is damp so it is drying out at the moment. We will oil it etc. We are going to add more bracing in the cupboard and I need to test the water tightness of the tank . There is a repair which has been done professionally over the sump hole. I think I'm going to stick to canister filters. I will be selling my other tank and cupboard once this one is set up as it doesn't fit in with our other furniture.. I love the look of this one .... :happy2: :happy2: :happy2:

Yippppee, we battled the storm and picked up my new tank and cupboard today. It is 1870mm x 500mm x 600mm around 560L . I am going to use it for my Clown Loaches and Parrot fish and Tin Foil Barbs at the moment they are in a 4 footer. It will take while to set-up as the Kauri cupboard needs drying out and stabilizing/bracing also need to test the tank... and decided on filtration (think I'm going to keep with Eheims) a sump sounds good but I would have to get the tank drilled for it and not sure if I have the skills or inclination to build a sump just yet. Its going to be a plan for the next school holidays, patience will be needed !!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Hi I'm thinking about setting up a on my big tank , holds about 520L. What size tank would I need to run a sump set up, also what are the pros and cons.... can you point me in the right direction for making one.... Thanks Gill

Thanks ,the tank is only 3ft holds around 200L so only going to put in a few, thought i would keep to Electric yellows. It was a community tank but i upgraded and have a 4ft for that now. Its just a tank sitting idle and i want to do something with it. I have sand for the substrate and have rocks to add etc....

Hi i am thinking about setting up a tank with some Electric yellows. I have been told they need hard water. I bought a testing GH/KH kit and so far i have the following results ppm35.8 .I tested the pH 7.6 .Am i on the right track ...... Thanks 8)
