Hi called into Jansens and they tested the water nitrates too high ,i have been advised to do a 50% water change and another in two days.

Thanks Caper , dont think its white spot then ,it looks like some of his scales have lost colour ,my daughter said Bob is going grey . I will try and get a close up photo of it

I think my Siamese fighter ‘Bob' may be sick his scales around his face look white ,is this white spot? I have no idea if this will work so here goes .Ok it worked for me but the photo isnt that clear so i will try and get a better photo of Bob later

Hi i have just set up my first tank , i started off by adding a few fish at a time , first 6 neons , the following week i bought 6 guppies , the third week (this week ) we have swordtails and also a Siamese fighter .I think the main thing to remember is only to add a small number of fish each week.There are plenty of experts here who i am sure help you out .There are several posting on the same topic and from what i have read just take you time when adding new fish ,keep up with water changes and enjoy your tank

HI I have just started to up my tank i let the water and temp settle for a couple of days and i have introduced some fish each week and so far all is going great .So taking it slow seems to be the way to go , even if my girls are NAGGING me to get more fish .We are week three now .So far we have 6 neons 6 guppies and a Male Siamese .

Hi , how deep should you plant plants ,eg just in the gravel or in the aquatic mix i have . Thanks :lol:

Wow it looks great. I am setting up my first tank and i have used the aquatic mix and gravel on top but when we were trying to get the filter to work it all got stired up. I think i need to get a gravel cleaner so i can get rid of the aquatic mix which is now sitting on top of the gravel. So to be honest right now i am not that impressed with the mix as my plants dont look to be doing too good either ,i wonder if they have been planted too deep .

Hi Is Propergating sand special sand for tanks and is it a must have for plants to grow , :lol:
