  4. Wow very cool phoenix, thanks for that
  5. OK Mr Expert, tell me how it's supposed to be done 8)
  6. My fish just had a nice big feed of mosquito larvae !drool:
  7. OK so I'm getting a little tired of the pots. They are quite good but I am finding that the plant growth is slow and they are quite cramped in the pots. I'm thinking of getting a bigger tank, 100x50x55cm (instead of my current 100x30x50cm), just made out of standard tank glass (which I found out is called "Ultra White") and making a mineralized topsoil substrate with some JBL AquaBasis Plus and either fine gravel or JBL Manado on top. I am already investing in the substrate (I have bought some Dolomite, Epsom Salts and Potassium Chloride and JBL Florapol 700g x2). I need to get the AquaBasis and topsoil now, and some Manado. While I'm doing that hopefully I will get my macmasteri to breed so I can sell the fry to make some extra cash so I can afford T5 lighting (this is the fixture I'm looking at; http://www.aquascapedesign.com.au/produ ... hting.html Because the tank will be 50cm wide then I will need at least 6 tubes to spread light evenly across the tank. I want to aim for at least 1-2 watts of light per liter of water). Then I will just need to get the bigger tank, and I already have a brand new Jager 300watt heater that I bought ages ago but have never used so there's my heater By doing all this then I can grow my plants on a larger scale so I can earn more money by selling them, so I can eventually afford high-tech tanks with metal halides, OptiWhite glass and pressurized CO2
  8. How thick is the glass on your new tank?
  9. I just gave a whole bunch of Cordata to Jennifer so you could talk to her in a couple of months and ask if she has any for sale
  10. Cryptocoryne willisii and cordata both look very nice and they only grow to about 20cm. I currently don't have any availible though, but you might be able to get some off other people
  11. For the backround just go to Bunnings or something and get a sheet of cork bark. It makes a stunning backround for an aquarium
  12. It looks err... interesting? I miss the big swordplant and how you had the tank jam-packed with plants :tears: It looked so cool. The 'pathway' thing looks funny. Although that is just my silly opinion  As long as you're happy with it that's the main thing BTW, I like that particular moss you have on the driftwood

  14. Awesome stuff Ryan That big cichlid tank must need a hell of a lot of filtration with all those big healthy pooping cichlids in there
  15. I'm confused; that is the import list isn't it :-? Import list = list of species of fish/coral allowed for import? :dunno:

    New Mosses

No not peacock moss (I wish though ) I've had it previously but I had a large algae outbreak which killed it. I have also tried the other two but I nothing really happened with them and they just died off eventually. But they seem to be doing really well this time round

    New Mosses

Hey everyone, One weekend ago I went down to a local river and found these mosses, which are all doing quite well in my tank. Mini Fissidens I found this already attached to a small rock Another cool moss Willow Moss If these continue to do well then hopefully I will then be able to pass some on to other people to have a go with Joe.
  20. In a 300L densely-planted tank you could probably fit 5 pairs of steel blues or more if you're lucky I think you should get a pair of Agassiziis, two pairs of Laetacara curviceps and then a couple of pairs of Macmasteri and some German Blue Rams or some steel blues
  21. Neato :happy1: Mine have spawned countless times, and still no luck I need to try and get a rainwater collecting system set up so I can use rainwater soaked in peat because our tapwater here is hard. Jennifer could you please post some pics of your pair please?
  22. You shouldn't have much trouble getting those then - they're very common, and only cost about $10 each
