is it a new batch of the flake food?
  2. what was he eating before you got him?
  3. kadango looks like my females and the other looks like my lithobates
  4. i have found it can raise the agression level too in some individuals too when i raised cubs those put on live food in diet were more inclined to use their teeth and claws on you
  5. the indo may need stimulating with some live food to get him started feeding again the aro would be an expensive feed though, maybe a feeder fish
  6. i usually leave young in tank and syphon off the jelly once they are hatched they wiggle and break out of the egg and lay on bottom or attach to plants i usually start feeding a few brine shrimp after hatching starts and until they get big enough to handle daphnia good luck
  7. you learn something new each day \thanks for the correction
  8. hi henward ammonia comes out of the back end of the fish, poos and wees the gills are used to take in oxygen from the water that is passed over them fish can drown when there is no dissolved oxygen in the water or the gill filaments are coated or collapse ie when they are taken out of water increasing the surface disturbance in the tank will help to increase dissolved oxygen in the water
  9. good name for a jardini mine is barrie mundi
  10. good thing about the forum though is there is usually more than one person around to do a correction
  11. it may not be your problem but a few years ago i had the same situation with a tank i was running we tried everything with no success, we eliminated every cause one by one until we were left with no reason for fish dying eventually i stripped the tank and changed the gravel and never had that problem again could only come to the conclusion it was the type of gravel we were using good luck
  12. promounced as chalseus, henward, or pink tailed shark fast growers and fast fish that is a nicely coloured example you've got there snookie
  13. ooh its new and shiny make sure you polish it once a week with Brasso
  14. probably not a good idea in a breeding setup, males could spend all their time fighting off their reflection and not doing the job with the females
  15. IHBR You may come to love Snookies sense of humour 8)
  16. we have had adult muscovy ducks taken on our pond, personally witnessed. Haven't managed to catch it yet to put in eel pool. at a rough guess, seen in dark by torchlight, it is 2metres and about 10 - 11kg
  17. if its the thread i was thinking of the aro was small and the person was advised that this could only be a temporary measure there is a lot of knowledge and experience within the forum members and sooner or later the right advice is given by someone to any questions on here as you have said some people should read books, but some people have trouble assimilating the info in books or they need a bit of reassurance. as Caryl has said even books contain conflicting info, especially some of the beginner type books, good books can be expensive or harder to find. sometimes it is an emergency and the correct info not available so the forum is here
  18. i have told you before that they won't let amber the goat into the movie theater seriously though toms lady is nice
