I have a pair of large ornates that get on well together i have been offerd another large one does anyone have any experiences or thoughts on how this would work?

doing weekly water changes may help your system function better remember it is an enclosed system and food added produces waste from the fish which can slowly pollute your water bacteria can keep your tank in balance but with older water it can only take a little overfeeding to tip the balance and cause a spike

these guys do not like raised ammonia or nitrite levels your existing fish can live with higher levels if it raises slowly in the tank adding a new fish even with an extended float off period can still shock sensitive fish being slimy coated after death suggests the mucus layer on the fish has reacted to water conditions

welcome to the forums haakuturi just a few questions did you buy the tank originally as a complete setup? what substrate and decorations do you have in there? ph level would be good for africans how do you clean the tank now a picture would be good as well

i feel i use less water washing it in smaller amounts

if it was small they can dig in quite well are you still putting food in tank? the only option to find out usually is to take the tank apart slowly and carefully they are very good climbers, scaling glass easily and fit through small holes

yes bikboks way is the best is it something stuck on its barbs?

i have done this before using 10mm poly with no problems using a thick board as well will allow you to hang the back over 20mm as deno said

it is when you drink too much gin usually on other alcohol it's called a bender -

i thought to do a background for the africans tank will try to make it look like limestone face it has 2 large rocks to go under the overhang but may put it in the community tank it is 2.4m x .65cm

wet day, lots of polystyrene, inspiration from si=sphinx so started this one cut, glued, sanded and coated with cemex so far still to make 2 rocks for the overhangs
