I tend to use the plus lenses every times im taking fish (or any macro) shots Ominex has the +10 and I bought the +1,+2 and +4 as well as the +10. + 4 is great for the shots of Killis The plus lens are simply wound onto the front of your 50mm macro lens Just beware of the diamator (my 50mm is a 52mm )

exactly Simian Some will not be happy untill all LFS are gone. When that happens, they will have no more imports of fish and no supplies and they will need to order everything in from overseas them selves just think of the problems with parts or importing one heater and then you get into the food with all the legal hassels Its simple really if you dont like the cost, dont buy it As a wholesaler/retailer, I simply walk away or ask people to leave when they are pushing the price issue and putting the pressure on... cant be bothered...Just dont need a $50- or $100 sale that much. I make 10% of my turnover so to spend 10 minutes arguing with someone for a $5 profit?

Ive got the 400D with all sorts of extra stuff that I dont know how to use

the more bracing the better The sides are acceptable in 6mm (although I would make it thicker if I was making a new tank) but the base should be at least 8mm and ideally 10mm The more bracing you have the stronger the tank. Silicon is a sealant not a glue so more bracing = less strain on the sealants = stronger tank with less chance of problems

I got growled at when I emptied my tank at Cairns. I finished my dive and was "snorkeling on the surface at the back of the boat watching a GT about 1 meter long until I had nothing left. I had told my buddy what I was doing and had told another of the dive cons but it was a different one at the duck board when I came aboard. Aftyer I mentioned it to the original dive con, all was sorted. I dont blame them but I had already cleared it and was on the surface floating and fully inflated not a great photo and I have no idea why as the water was clear as anything
-
thats the beauty of diving, you have a tank with air in it strapped to your back Plus you can get all those scallops. Ive even opened and eaten one under the water... yes I was showing off to a mate from England who had rearly even seen a fish
-
been diving since about mid 90s... 93 from memory Stopped logging dives after 500 as I could see no real point in it ssi and padi open water Poor Knights is great as is White Island but my secret scallop place is best. Good vis there is 3 meters my 3 daughters are all divers as is the husbands of the 2 eldest daughters but the youngest isnt married thankfully at 18

I'm not having a go at you I'm just trying to explain why it's not fair to just fob it off to managers only 'managing' people and staff members only wanting a pay packet when there are so many fine elements involved in working at a pet store. No problem at all and I do agree with you in a lot of areas. The thing that concerned me was that people were confusing things and having a go at managers where they are there for their knowledge of managing and not of the product (although I agree that they should have some knowledge). A lot of larger companies hire cheap labour rather than knowledge but my other point was that people say they know a lot but often simply dont, but this dosnt show up untill a month or two down the track after it use to be too late to do anything about it

cant remember their age but there were 2 at the Lion park in Rotorua. I was supprised at the strenght for the size to be honest but must admit it was great to be there with them. Had a dive with the sharks at the Napier Aquarium a few weeks ago as well. Love those things I can tell you

So mauling may be stretching things a bit but you can see it grabbing my leg ok ok ok So it may have only wanted a pat but sounds better the way I first put it
-
I got mauled by a lion... must see if I can find the photo

send both types to me (not Wok) and I will give you my honest thoughts on the subject You are correct though, as a kid, it was always white icing but my daughters use chocolate (to be honest I dont eat it)

now that is funny wonder if I could use the same excuse
-
yes The tanks have too much "natural growth" on the fronts so the photos remind me whats inside (and show others at a glance)
-
hes doing another Pukeko add now with new birds that hes really proud of... wont say any more though the doves are in the "Pure Blond" beer adds now guess what I drink? These will be played in NZ and Oz

I use 732 and every tank I have made in the last 5 years has been from either 732 or the equivalant number in black. 732 is clear. As mentioned earlier, the difference inbetween aquarium safe of not is that it has not been tested. When I had to repair a mussel tank for an Auckland seafood company, we could not find a tube anywhere in NZ that was food grade so had to seek advice from the manufacture who said they were all safe but hardly any is used so they have only had one number tested All those sandwich cabinets that have been glued together ... chances are that none have been made with food grade silicon. Any of you dead from them?
-
nutral and acidic I use nutral agree with the comment that you should not use fungile silicons The main difference between Aquarium grade and those that are not is that the manufactures have not bothered to have them tested as the costs are huge and the sales increases are simply not worth it. Silicon takes 1 full day per 1mm of thickness of joint.ie; 6mm of joint should be left for at least 6 days

old photo Had Mark Veti around the other day (hes the animal trainer that supplied the Toyota bu**gar dog, the National bank horses and the Pukeko add as well as 90% of all adds). He was returning some boxes after he had hired some of Brendas doves. He was real keen on our cat and he wanted to see the fish. May have to start cleaning this weekend. Never know, you could end up seeing one of my killis in an add

300 x 300 x 300 or 600 x 300 x 300 devided in half What do you keep in the way of Killis BTW are you a member of the Killi Club?

I know a person in these forums that prefers not to let on where they work (at a LFS) and to be honest, I dont blame them at all. People come in here to learn as well as recieve and give advice. If they make a mistake (as we all do at times) they would be given shear hell. I agree with Caryl, lets hear of the great things from these shops and forget or leave behind any bad experiances.

if it dosnt start let me know I have a starter culture for nothing

I employ people almost everyone lies through their teeth to get the job and it takes a lot of work and hours to sift out all of the bull. Ive even had WINZ tell a guy to tell me he had experiance in related work but on the first day, he showed that he had no knowledge at all. Now days, you can again place a person on 3 months trial but up untill then you simply were not legally allowed to hire that way. I had decided not to employ people untill that law was changed but now I can afford to give a person a go yet still let them go if they are not up to it. I have just taken another person on (on a 3 month trial) and know that although they are probably going to be OK, I can get rid of them if they prove not to be. One wonders how many "bad" staff members have been hired and now their employers cant get rid of them

I have kept away from this but feel that I need to point out a few things Firstly, not all store are the same so you will alway get good and less than good second, a managers job is to manage and thats where their abilities should be at. Its possible that the managers are not up to it and that seem to be the case but its the managers job to employ people to be well versed in their areas or speciality as well as set the standards for service and make sure that those standard are being kept. I have found some very capable people working at Animates so by knocking Animates, your knocking some very good people as well as some that may not be quite as good. Ive also come accross people(staff) that have less knowledge in specialty stores not only in the live stock areas but also in appliance stroes. What I am trying to say (I think) is realise that a managers jobs is to manage not to have intermate knowledge in their products and that often the staff are there only to collect their paypacket. A good manager should be able to weed out those that are not all that good but each one of us will put extra effort in when the boss is around. When that boss has IDed a "problem" staff member what can he do? To be honest, not much at all as the empolyment laws do not allow you to dismiss someone for a lack of knowledge. Just some interesting things to thing about

not even sure when it will be screened but its on in ostralia as well
