  1. If you bought that many of them couldn't you get them a lot cheaper? Or are you taking bulk buying into consideration? What about using fewer LED's that are a higher wattage would that be cheaper? I remember looking at plans to build lights for night mountain biking and using a high W LED(s).
  2. Ditto as David said, if you're working in the CBD, it's probably going to be a bit of a mission to get to and from work every day. Are is not to bad either, there are things like supermarkets, gym etc really close by. Getting onto the Motorway is really close too. Safety? Well how safe to you consider safe? You could do a LOT worse in Auckland. Esp heading further west. In my opinion, if you were to work in the CBD, I'd aim to get closer than Te Atatu. Possibly Grey Lynn or Ponsonby?
  3. Careful, that could be taken out of context  Sorry I think I've just got Cabin fever from being stuck at work
  4. Wow some acrobats, elephants and lion tamers and you might just have a circus
  5. that's when you need a F.U.D or (as seen on dragons den) a shewee. http://www.shewee.com/
  6. Aren't Dwarf Gourami's (well the imported ones) usually full of parasites and most of them die shortly after purchase? I've read stuff about this issue but don't know the full story behind it. :-?
  7. I think a polarizing filter is something you can add onto the lens to remove glare from the glass. But that would be more expensive than just closing the curtains etc
  8. You can't use them as monitors though. Even still 10" is tiny for a monitor!
  9. I think they are pretty cool. Esp if you can't decide which photo you want to put in your frame. Why not put them ALL! I don't know much about brands etc. But as long as it displays JPG's it should be fine cause all cameras will be able to take pics in JPG format.
  10. Hmm, I thought Surge protectors were the short cables you get with a test and reset button on the head. Like if you're water blasting and don't want to get electrocuted. Or are they called something else? Isn't that the same thing as the red button on a multi-board? I only ask so I know I'm talking about the right thing.
  11. Ooopsss I think theCONCH got the post submitted while I was still typing. Sorry for the double up of information. Hey he used the same example heater as I used
  12. P=IV (Power = Amps x Voltage) All of your devices should say how much power they consume (how many watts it is rated). Then at any one time sum up the total number of watts and divide it by 240V (mains power). This prob isn't that accurate but it should give you a rough idea. For example a 100W heater on your tank would draw 100W/240V = ~0.42A But then again your heater won't be running constantly the whole time. But yea the solution would be just to get a surge protector on the plugs which have lots of devices connected to them. It will pop out if the current gets too high, and if it pops out all the time then you're prob overloading the plug.
  13. Having said that though, all I use it for is re-sizing photos. I use to use it when I was looking after a MTB Club Website at Uni. I like to use Picassa2 from Google for Cropping, filtering, removing red eye and other touch-ups for photos. 8) I also use photo-shop to get funky and creative with stuff. But when I was looking after the website I use to make thumbnails for the site using a freeware program I got off the net called EzyThumbnails or something like that. Just copied and resized pics and you could do batches of photos in one go and make copies of the resized photos. I guess I found that the office program was really good at changing photo size without loosing too much picture quality. :bounce: :bounce: Glad to be able to help though, even if it wasn't passing on Fish knowledge 8)
  14. I find that Windows Office Picture Manager is a good tool for re-sizing photos with out loosing picture quality. It lets you specify the resized picture in Pixels too. e.g. 80x80 pixels. It will be under Microsoft Office Tools from programs in your start menu.
  15. Thanks for the advice guys. Funny cause when I first saw the name Faunty, with my dislexyia I thought the title said Faulty - Bio filter
  16. What about things like leaking? Is this a common problem. Don't think the land lord would appreciate fishy carpet
  17. Damm, that would be one of the more expensive ones  Well I guess you get what ya pay for.
  18. whoops  was looking on TM halfway through writing that and found another one
  19. I've been looking at external filters on TM and I have noticed that different brands vary greatly in price for specs are similar to each other. 5 brands I've seen on TM include Faunty, Eheim, Jebo, Fluval and ViaAqua. What are some of your experiences with these brands? Which ones are good and which are......more trouble than they are worth? Risk of leaking, Parts, easy to get into and clean etc? Thanks
  20. Just curious, how big do BGK's grow and how fast?
  21. Whoops, it's been a while since 7th form Chemistry.
  22. I think it's more the idea that one teacher gave her a not achieved whereas the other markers gave her grades on the total opposite end of the scale. That's the bit I don't understand. Mind you, she was in the guinea pig year. Maybe it's a bit better now :-?
  23. It will take it out of the air first, but the drier the air is the more water that will evaporate from the fish tank. Effectively your fish tank is a big air humidifier
  24. yes it will. If you want a read about how it works check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Chatelier's_principle Might help a bit
  25. I don't understand the NCEA system. I did Burs.... My sis did NCEA, failed a physics lab, kicked up a fuss about it and it went to a few other markers and 2 gave her excellence and the other gave a merit. So confusing :-?
