  1. Wow there are some really cool tats out there. I guess the thing stopping me from ever getting one is that I don't know what I would get that I would be 100% sure that I would not get sick of or regret for the rest of my life. I do know of people that get them on their backs so they don't have to see it every day, hence not get sick of it (quicker maybe)? The other would be that there aren't many places I could get a tat that I don't have too much body hair
  2. I agree, What sort of ISO settings do you use, just out of curiosity.
  3. Hey Spoon, Welcome.
  4. Yea come to think of it, I saw a man eating crocodile at the Hokitika Wild foods festival  Would a Salt water croc really swim all the way from Aus over to NZ? Aren't they usually situated in the Northern part of Aus? That's a long way to swim!
  5. I didn't know we had any in captivity over here? I haven't seen any at the Zoo's I've been to.
  6. Man, I just did a google image search for Pacu's and those guys have freaky teeth! Yes, they do get huge! I assume this is what we are talking about? http://myfwc.com/fishing/photos/Pacu.JPG

  8. Ohh he's adorable. I don't have a puppy but if I did this would be him: http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb12 ... 008004.jpg He's a Staffy/Lab cross that I saw avaliable in the paper and I've just taken too. If I was ready to get a dog, he would be it. Sorry it's a rubbish photo, taken with a camera phone of a newspaper photo! Pic Too Large Tags Removed. Read The Guidelines for posting pics... http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/postin ... t2406.html Mod Bill.
  9. Just wondering why silicone isn't good for CO2?
  10. My partner works at a place where they identify the source of people getting sick etc and they have had traces of Salmonella from Fish tank water. Now she's absolutely paranoid and makes sure I wash my hands throughly after touching fish tank water. I think Salmonella is more common when handling turtles. There have been cases of little kids that hold turtles then stick their fingers in their mouths getting Salmonella poisoning. Getting back to the topic (sorry ), I just fill the vac then tip it upright to get water down to the other end of the hose then put the vac back in the water and let any air out. Same way as Subzero I think? Works well.
  11. I don't recall my mum doing any special preparation other than washing the leaves. But that's advisable with most vegetables. Are you sure you're not thinking of rhubarb? I heard that it's leaves are toxic, but I haven't really had it much personally.
  12. I have to say as a newbie, that this forum is great. People don't fire you down if you ask a question that is totally outside of your understanding but may seem silly to the more experienced. I've been on other forums (not fish related) and got absolutely shot down for asking a question, that after searching around the net for a while, I couldn't find the answer for.
  13. I kept my fighter with 6 pearl gouramis and 2 dwarfs. No problems. I think the gourami's flicking him with the feelers is only curiosity, not aggression. In my experience it would be alright to keep them un-separated.
  14. I was told by someone that they had problems with their Pearl Gourami eating their plants. May be the Dwarfs could be nibbling at them? Might pay to keep and eye on them and you might spot the culprit.
  15. Yea true! Umm I thought that Cambodian referred to the tail shape. I think I'm too much of a newbie to see the difference between halfmoon and Veiltail betta's. All I really understand is if it's a CT, not CT or half CT  I thought a Cambodian was one that wasn't CT but had some subtle diff from the rest. I need to do a bit of reading on Tail shapes etc but don't understand what I'm looking at when someone describes them. Oh well I know what a Cambodian is now One of my friends in Intermediate is one
  16. Hey Loopy, I was just wondering how your Multi-Betta tank is going right now. Is everyone still living in harmony? Cheers, Ketan
  17. Hmmm, I just realised that Cambodian refers to the body being white!
  18. Just wondering, but I never really see pics of Clown Loaches in tanks with Arows. Are they not really compatible? I thought an 8ft tank would be pretty good for a group of big loaches.
  19. I don't know, never had to measure light intensity. That's why I was a bit confused about it. The only time I've encountered light intensity as a measurement is when buying a torch and they rate it in candles! But I recently was told that 1 Lumen = 1 Candle.
  20. Hey Sorry to hear that Caryl. I hope the day has improved since this morning. Best wishes for your dad.
  21. It's crazy running into Unit's you've never used before. I worked at a company that delt with really high vacuum pressure systems. Anyway they used the unit Torr which I found odd, being use to talking in Pascals and Bar or even mm (water or Hg)! Then again, I don't know of any other units for light intensity. Haven't had to measure it before!
  22. Ah I see. Sorry. That sounds really expensive to me though. Surely they are a lot cheaper than that. :-?
  23. I don't think that 5W LED = 5W fluro tube. That's why LED's would be more efficient. More light from less wattage. Less energy wasted on heat, more energy going into creating light. I'd have to read up about Lumen though. I've never heard of that term before.
  24. I vaguely remember looking at 5W LED's for the night lights for MTB. They must be pretty bright if a 5W LED will provide enough light to bike along a track in darkness How spread out would they have to be to get an even dispersion of light?
  25. How many W's are required for plants? Or is it light frequency rather than Wattage?
