  1. I'd be really keen to meet and socialise with everyone, and do some window shopping at the same time. =)
  2. I used to find my wcmm fry sticking to the glass in the top corners of the tanks, hiding from their parents by living in the middle of the surface tension. They're incredibly small and I'd have to peer for some time to see them.
  3. I'm getting excited now! We bought some meat and garlic bread for the BBQ so hopefully the weather will be nice and summery.
  4. Absolutely. If in doubt, go up to a complete stranger (you might want to make sure they look friendly and inviting) and ask them if they're Totally Tanked. If you get a less than positive answer, you could try again. Maybe Loopy will bring our Totally Tanked banner with the red Siamese Fighter on it, but that would just make it too easy. =P Failing all else, stand by the clock tower. If the weather is terrible and hateful, come to Coffee Culture. If it's bearable, just look about as if you're looking for someone, and if there's someone there we'll probably come to you and ask if you're looking for us. =) Chances are, we'll actually be a bit further around near the BBQ area.
  5. Hi Wendy! Anyone is very welcome to join us as it will be out in the public anyway. I really hope it is good weather on the day because it's a nice, big park but we might crowd the coffee shop a little.
  6. Our November meeting will hopefully be a nice, evening barbecue in Sumner, but if the weather is not so favourable we will be meeting at Coffee Culture in Sumner instead. Full details can be seen at: http://totallytanked.co.nz/news.html Summary - At Sumner, in Scarborough Park (near the Clock Tower) or Coffee Culture Starting at 5 pm on Saturday, 1st November. I'm looking forward to it!
  7. Well, that was fun. Next month's meeting details are already on the Totally Tanked Website for anyone interested, but we'll post a reminder sometime. =)
  8. 6 pm and it's still just us and Loopy so far. It's not too late to come over. =)
  9. Mine were in an unheated tank which was fine until it got to about 15 degrees. Did you know, they still have a bit of stick even when they're dead? Don't keep them in cold water without a heater, but I don't think they're actually tropical either. About subtropical, I would say.
  10. Try again. It seems the access to individual boards was fine, but I'd locked out viewing access for all the categories to everyone except Administrator. >_>
  11. This was the night of my birthday, mid September. Bad quality, but I got a new haircut. My hair USED to look like this: SADAKO!
  12. Totally Tanked Forums are.... functional.... Might still be a bit buggy when it comes to posting and viewing access but it's probably safe to sign up. If you post a new introduction I will assign a new rank to give better access to everything. Sorry it's taken me so long and I hope the new look doesn't deter you.
  13. Hey everyone. After a very unofficial committee meeting we have decided to call off club activities until at least next month. We all have too much going on personally to concentrate on organising anything at the moment. We do have lots of things planned for the future, like the garage sale. Also, I will be doing what I can to keep everyone updated via the website, and fix the forums too. Thanks for your patience!
  14. As Dixon said: Male + female(s) + plants to hide in = babies! Then just crush the food you feed the parents so the babies can eat it too. There's really nothing special to feeding the fry, unless you want to maybe separate them and feed them live food so they grow faster.
  15. I used to feed mine yeast and liquifry and just throw in something green every now and then (but liquifry is an expensive way to feed them). I've heard of crushed dog biscuits being used to get a bacterial bloom in the water. Doing a small water change at the same time as your tanks is a good way to cull them and keep them from dying as well. They're cool little critters. I would like to get some more myself.
  16. Is he seriously deaf in both ears? Might have to research some care for deaf cats? They can get nervous because everything spooks them and the instinct is for claws to be out! Good luck with everything.
  17. Cats are trainable, people are stupid. Problems will be territorial issues and the best introduction can take several months. They may have been introduced too soon. Do they have their own areas in the house? There are plug-in products (one called Feliway, but may not be easily available in NZ) which release pheromones to calm cats, but might just have to accept they will not get along with each other. I have introduced my cat to other cats and it seems to depend on the personality of both cats as to how they adjust. Some cats will click instantly, some will get no better than tolerating other cats, others just require to be an only cat all their lives. Fixing can help a lot!
  18. Oh, hey guys. Just letting you all know that I managed to kill the TT forums... again... so this will be your place to come for details and updates until I get this sorted. (Here we go again...) ARGH!
  19. I used to have a few and they are one of my favourites! You really need to keep up the water quality though and make sure they are well oxygenated with fast flowing water.
  20. The details of the Tank Crawl are sorted! The itinerary is as follows. Saturday, 2 August 2008 1:30 pm - Meet at Organism - This is our starting point. We will have half an hour to look around the shop and get organised to leave. 2:00 pm - Leave for Wilson's - We are leaving at 2 pm SHARP so please be sure you are there before 2 pm! We will leave a contact number with John (behind the counter at Organism) in case you do need to catch up. 2:45 pm - Leave Wilson's to go to Spoon's 3:30 pm - Leave Spoon's to go to Slightly Blue Dalmation's 4:20 pm - Leave Slightly Blue Dalmation's for Critter Kingdom 5:00 pm - Leave Critter Kingdom to go to Spidercles' house for a final stop and food Please bring $5 for a tea of fish & chips. This is all-inclusive of food and drink and any leftover funds (if any) will be put into donation. It should be fairly relaxed afternoon/evening. Feel free to let others know and car-pool. =)
  21. Hello dcase. There were 6 of us at the meeting (including the 2 of us who live here and didn't need to go anywhere!) and we all gathered around the oil heater. Which email address did you send your email to, by the way?
  22. How are we gonna collect the subs this week if we postpone to next week?
