How much should a 150w MH lamp cost? and is there any difference between the aquarium brands and those that i can get from an electrical distributor?

usually they get a odd looking build up inside the heater if its on its way out, not uncommon for tanks to drop in temperature over winter tho

I have one of these http://www.trademe.co.nz/Pets-animals/Fish/Lights-lamps/auction-385608067.htm but i got mine alot cheaper People tend to go with a 6.5k lamp but it tend to look pretty yellow and not very attractive, I'm currently using 10k bulbs and don't seem to have any issues - I plan to get 12/14k bulbs soon

two 150w metal halides will be the best and cheapest lighting you can get :thup:

I transferred my two cannisters one at a time, the first one from the holding tank at 26 degrees and into the new tank at 22 degrees.. no issues with bacteria dying.

they will eat anything small, i had a half grown one eat a german ram cichlid. Its not hard to think that something small will get eaten by something big... simple maths.

I currently have a twin 150w metal halide fitting with one 10k lamp and one i believe to be between 7-9k I have twisted val, java moss, sagg and java fern in the tank, I was wondering if i could throw in some lamps that are between 12-14k - would that still be fine for plants? I quite like the blue tint the water gets 8)

I found a baby bristlenose while feeding my fish this morning, didn't even know the bristlenoses i had were at a breedable age

I can't remember if I've mentioned this already but I managed to turn my cannister filter on without the hosing attached this weekend :facepalm: got sprayed in the face, was a good morning! :rotf:

talk to organism, they was selling them for about $960 a while ago, media was about another $250 but you might be able to find it cheaper on special somewhere

Still working on the moss/wood, I might move it to the right and remove the bit with the windelov on it (only in there because i don't want to throw it away) When thats sorted out I'll repostion the sagg a bit and then get it ready for some nice rocks and convert it to an african tank with twisted val for plants and maybe one piece of bog wood (on the far right)
