  1. When I moved house in May, I could only find 3 of my 4 bristlenoses. I looked carefully over all the driftwood to make sure the missing female wasn't hanging on somewhere, but in the end had to accept that she must of died & I hadn't noticed cos they all usually hide. Last week I had fed some courgette (a rare treat these days) and was sitting quietly in the dark to see if the bns would come out. 2 of them did & were sharing a piece when it dawned on me they were both females & I could of sworn I had 2 males. So I watched a little longer & in the end I had 4 bristlenoses again! Yay!
  2. The Pet Expo went really well for us. It was very tiring having to smile all day & answer the same questions over & over & over again. Really fun though, especially when talking to people who had fish themselves. I like how those setup photos make it look like I'm the only one doing any work
  3. I can't imagine having a meeting in a random hall... Ick, It'd be so cold on winter nights. I love that Totally Tanked is always in someones home & we can actually see each others fish. Tank crawls are another club idea, we have one roughly twice a year -> meet at a fish shop & then drive around members houses.
  4. BUMP Just reminding those in Chch that this is on this weekend. Make sure you stop and talk to the Totally Tanked & Turtle Rescue & Rehoming crew. We have put a lot of work into our stalls & they are looking great
  5. I thought I was having a dizzy spell.... Until a friend posted about it on facebook and I clicked.
  6. I was waiting for someone to mention this.... Channel gets changed every time this ad comes on.
  7. Giant millipedes are so cool. I held a young one in Fiji --> I don't think I'd want to hold the centipede though
  8. You can keep the fish in the fridge for days on end and then put them in a bowl and they're fine  The insects are like the rocks (if you've seen them?) sometimes they are just appear... If you see them you instruct them to catch them. The butterflies are common, I found them at the main park. The rhino beetle is a little rarer... One night while they were sleeping, I was scrolling around the town & found the beetles running around on the ground, so I woke a sim up to go collect them. Hehe.
  9. Ok, I think there are a lot more than 13 fish.. Mine just got that wish too & she's already got about 13! And there's lots more I've seen in ponds but haven't caught. If you guys like Sims 3, check out this blog --> http://aliceandkev.wordpress.com/ It's hilarious (although kinda sad)
  10. Ohhh to be fair, she didn't catch the lobster herself, its from the store. But I did see some in one of the mountain ponds. My Sim 3 fishing related goals atm.... She's so obsessed. I never played the Sims 2, so this one is so advanced to me! So much fun, I love all the possibilities. But yeah, my flatmate was saying it was so much hassle everytime her Sim wanted to leave the house since the load times were so bad. Ps She has now caught a rainbow trout, blowfish and jellyfish! Fishroom is getting pretty cramped :-?
  11. ... for my Sims. My main Sim has become obsessed with going fishing, so I'm sure to add a lot more tanks as time goes by. This setup cost nearly 4,000 simoleons! Luckily she can sell the fish she doesn't need (or turn them into her fave meal, sushi  ). She is currently feeding Persis the shark (caught in a mountain lake... assumedly freshwater :-? ) The largest fish is Krystyl the black goldfish, weighing in at 15.56kg! Don't ask me how it fits in the bowl. Also visible is Pinchy the lobster, Trefusis the red herring and Hampton the regular goldfish. Her partner has a slight interest in collecting insects, so we put their cages in there too. From top left, clockwise is Gethin the red admiral butterfly, Sonny the rhino beetle, Silvestra the ladybird and Dyrke the monarch butterfly. Sonny is worth 111s and is the only uncommon species they've caught so far! 8)
  12. It's normally a surprise You'll have to come along and find out
  13. For Sat 6th June Meet at Redwood Aquatics (21 Hussey Rd) at 1pm We have a selection of member's houses to visit to see their tanks! We will also visit the Southern Encounter Aquarium. This will cost $14 per adult and will include entry and a guided behind the scenes tour! Will be a great opportunity to see their filtration system and new giant protein skimmer. Please bring $5 for a shared tea (possibly pizza) and $14 for aquarium entry (children $6, preschoolers free) Please let us know if you'd like to visit so I can warn the Aquarium guys beforehand.
  14. Ahhh sorry guys, I completely forgot about it. I wanted to come see the turtles too. Damn
  15. Hi Humvee, nope, just turn up if you're keen.
  16. I'll be there! Looking forward to the slip & slide lol
  17. I noticed with the hand basin one, there is no air gap at the top. I quite liked that fish loft one actually. You could easily set that up in an outdoor pond. I dunno if the fish would actually swim up into it?
  18. Well, they are astonishing in a design sense... But probably not so good if you want to care for your fish properly... Enjoy. http://www.homeinteriorszone.com/interi ... aquariums/
  19. I saw a tank of figure 8 puffers at Ferry Rd Pet World in Chch a few months ago.
  20. Congrats & I hope you enjoy being a Mum! :bounce:
  21. I'll make sure to text you about the next one FF. It's usually the first Saturday of each month but the location is not usually finallised til a few days before.
  22. I can't come on either Sunday, but could next Saturday. If its postphoned you should consider advertising in buy & sell or community papers. And maybe find out if there's going to be enough things to sell. It's likely to fail without proper organisation :-?
  23. I take mine out of their tanks all the time to have play time on the floor. It's great to watch, you can tell they love it too.
