  1. Hi, I wouldn't, the older lot are likely to think the new ones are bbs, you will need to wait a few days. I generally find that if you are going to put two lots in together the younger ones need to wait until they are about 2 weeks old. Size difference is not so great then. Also a good idea to give the female fighter a break from breeding as it will wear her down.
  2. I have a spare tank 54 litres which I keep cycled. Any new fish I purchase from anyone or anywhere I put into this and keep them there for four weeks by which time anything they are carrying should show. I don't add any meds at all. If I am intending to purchase from two seperate places I make sure I set up a second spare tank well in advance.
  3. Hi, I'm picking up a pair of kribs in the next week. Can some of you give me some good web sites to look at. I have searched but there might be something better out there. I have read that the ph doesn't have to be as high as for other cichlids - is this right. Should the tank be bb with some piles of gravel or would something else be better. Thanks
  4. I find siamese fighters easy to breed, but its time consuming work raising the fry
  5. great pics again and stunning fish again!!!! you'll be over run with fry soon

was it at hollywood fish farm, mt roskill this morning and they have about 4 L260, about $215 each. is this a reasonable price?
  7. some people use cloves but i normally put the fish in a bag with a small amount of water and pop it in the freezer - the fish just goes to sleep when it cools down and doesn't wake up
  8. hi, i didn't respond as i don't know what causes it. i have had the odd fighter with pin prick holes in their fins and have assumed that they caught them on something.
  9. i think that probably the darker colourings show first - mine are yellow hence not a lot of colouring still at 6 weeks. Black/blue & red will probably show earlier. I can't sex mine yet either but should be able to tell soon.

are these yours? don't have a clue what they are but would love to know.
  11. males colour first, not sure about females, my fry are about 6 weeks and just starting to show yellow and orange on their tails, these are probably males. you may have mostly females.
  12. I hold mine over the colour strips and the one I can't see a different colour when I look through the test tube is the reading I take.
  13. I do mine in bleach, filters heater, media, everything. Rinse it off well and put it in the sun to dry if the sun is out.
  14. just realised I probably asked that a tad too early, they should hatch tonight.
  15. i have the cf filters (5 of them), they pick up the bulk of anything floating around the tank, direct the spray bar at the surface. Even with filters you still need to vacuum etc to keep the water clear.
  16. 75 - 100 watt heater, filter depends on the rate you want. I run anything from an elite stingray 15 to a fluval external on my tanks of this size.
  17. if you want the eggs to survive the night the tank needs to be lit. the male needs to see where the eggs are as he needs to pick them up and clean them constantly.
  18. are they like jelly, if so yes - snail eggs

    New Tank

really nice and love the driftwood.
  20. Sounds good - your lfs shouldn't have sold you two red sharks anyway. Its a good thing you returned both as they need lots of space, can grow quite large and are very good jumpers. Love to see a pic of your tank if you can post one.
  21. as above, angels mostly love the flashing tails of the guppies.
