  1. Sorry I should have put that better - I have had ich in one of my tanks and had to turn it up to 32 degrees before I started to win the battle. The room where I keep the tanks keeps them at about 28 in the summer months anyway. If your tank is healthy at 24 leave it there otherwise you will stress the fish.

    Combtail????

Can't open that link - says I don't have permission. I had quite a few combtails pop up last year while working on a decent ct line. I quite like them.
  3. are your neons okay. I would think that if it was whitespot they would have caught it too.
  4. I've had to turn one of my tanks up to 32 degrees - the trouble is that up here 28 degrees is about the norm in summer anyway.
  5. I would say the females, mine did it to a new male I introduced to their tank the other night after ignoring the previous male for months
  6. I know of others on here like this don't say a lot but very wise people ..... I hope they know who they are. A very kind thing to do.
  7. my sons got so much Pokemon stuff from years of collecting then he went to Counterstrike then Battlefield now the Girlfriend and motorcycles.
  8. stronger stuff up here obviously more bugs!!!!! only likes his discus and watching me clean the tank for him
  9. pleased to hear that these arrived safe and sound. what happened to your other adults?
  10. my husband also said ' why does it matter' 'its only fish' and 'tip the whole bottle in'
  11. 4% is 4gr per 100mls w/v you require .02grms (20mg) for the tank which is roughly a dose of .05ml or one drop This comes from my husband who is head of science and a chemistry and maths teacher.
  12. The first three are - mother a cambodian with red fins/tail, father a red veiltail off Spooky. Don't expect the first two to stay that colour. Interesting though, theres only about 6-7 males in the spawn and it appears only two will be red. Females at this stage look to have thrown to cambodian only.
  13. Here you go Mitzy They are not balloon rams. Are they still alive?
  14. Heres some pics of my 8 week old males
  15. yes, I think it is a tunze except that it is glued on. While there is an intake attached to it that runs down to the bottom of the tank like on ordinary cannister filters that has never worked. The only part that works is the overflow box. Hubby and I had a fiddle around the other day but could not get the intake to flow. I am wondering if it has been adapted. as the tank had two owners before I got it. The way I'm using it works well and the tank is crystal clear (well at the moment anyway), but it does mean I need to make sure the tank is kept topped up.
  16. I use the stuff from Spotlight and have never had any problems.
  17. As jimr says 'they are not rare' which is why I had plenty to send you. I just find that I have to keep an eye on my external filters to make sure they are not trying to suck it up although most is attached either to wood or floating in clumps in the top of the tank. I use it as hiding places for my maturing fighters.
  18. I like it - both the left and right hand sides. What have you done with the plants you removed?
  19. Very nice indeed. Did you build the rimu stand?
  20. Looking to get hold of large pieces of sponge, similar to the stuff used inside cannister filters, to use as the first step in my sump. Currently have filter wool in there but want something better to filter out the worst muck before it reaches the bio spheres. What does everyone use?
  21. Hi again, java moss on the way (its the stuff that looks like a tangle of wool), and also 3 java fern plants (tie them onto something like a stone or wood as well) and eventually they will attach. I sent them fastpost so hopefully they will arrive Monday. If they have started to dry out (they do have a small amount of water) don't panic just chuck them in some more water.
  22. I don't think this type of stand looks too bad at all. You see a lot worse. And if it works well then why knock it.
  23. Man Dixon!!! You've become really bossy lately. Is this what holidays do to you
  24. About 4 weeks, can be longer, they seem to be able to hold onto them. With guppies and swords there is a dark area (gravid spot) that appears just above the anal fin when they are carrying fry. This area increases and darkens, sometimes in lighter coloured fish you can see the eyes of the fry.
