  1. great about the aquarium world :happy2: I think I've left it too late to get leave to go to Conference though.
  2. He looks like he's a black flame crossed out. I have some like that in my tanks atm. I know what you mean - if the flash is on when the pics taken the blue comes out a greenish looking colour.
  3. I have them, purchased 6, have 3 still and they behave exactly as yours do. I have mine in with ember tetras.
  4. I don't know about safety thicknesses of glass etc but I do know that it is wrong to name people and accuse them of being inefficient.

    Dropsy?

I don't know whether they die first and then pop. If any of mine get it I isolate it but I have never had one burst. However if they die in the tank the other fish are going to make a meal out of them and because the cause of dropsy is really undetermined ie whether its bacterial or something else like the feeding regime, age, genetic makeup, I wouldn't want mine to die where it could be eaten and spread any possible disease among the remaining fish. If the fish is not big you could float an icecream container in your tank with the fish in it and do daily water changes. It may not be dropsy at all but without a photo to look at I can't help. Epsom salts can help release some fluid if it is.

    Dropsy?

If its dropsy its pretty much incurable as the fish's kidneys etc close down causing the fish to retain fluid which is why it gets fat and the scales are forced outwards. Its better to isolate the fish as you really don't want it to burst in the tank. While the jury is out on whether or not it is infectious I have observed that if I do have one fish that gets it, another one or two will follow in quick succession.
  7. When I was down in Hamilton at the tank crawl last year there was a spectacular looking tank with torpedo barbs in it which belonged to one of the Hamilton FNZAS members. If they come on to this forum and read this maybe you would be able to have a look. There were lots of beautiful set ups that I saw, most of them planted.
  8. I managed to get this colour pop up around three years ago. The person who bought it cooked it a few days later - heater malfunction
  9. No these are not bred by me but hopefully they will produce decent offspring. They have some nice females with them. Dunno about plakats in my spawns - there certainly won't be any in my ct spawns but I appear to have some more dt pop up but this time in my dragon spawn
  10. I haven't seen or managed to breed a true dark green betta for a long long time. May be wishful thinking and even if there are some around, no one will be telling.
  11. He's not actually gold, he's a silver with silver grey marbling in his body. Really really nice and I hope that they actually like the girls they are currently with
  12. Not a crime at all. He's very nice looking - appeared to be a rose tail but I'm not certain from the pics.
  13. the other ct male and one of the dragons pictured above - check out the scaling on the body. Unfortunately it appears he may have been hungry this evening and felt that his eggs were a good meal!
  14. an improved shot of the ct male now he's used to my tanks
  15. Our kids come in to school today - all 570 of them, 55 are new arrivals :-?
  16. Sam - ease up on the amount you are feeding and hopefully they will lift off the bottom of the tank. Too many microworms, bbs will do it but not sure about the decap.
  17. I'm sure the green is from the light coming through from behind. You may have to black out the back of the tank to stop it getting worse.
  18. This is my 3rd week and its disgusting!!!!!!
  19. What a nice looking young male and female you have there Particularly liking the boy
  20. do you go to uni? if so you could join the SCMC (scooter and motorcycle club).
  21. Morcs is on kiwibiker as well as is whetu from here but she has a different name.
  22. Personally, if I had 1 fighter, 2 guppies and 1 platy in a 40 litre tank with snails I would do a total clean out of the tank. Take everything out, chuck the water (just rinse the filter out in it), put bleach in the tank and wash the substrate as well. Throw the plants or rinse with potasium permanganate, refill the tank and replace the fish. Fighters are used to massive water changes and I can't see the guppies or the platy not being able to cope with it. Regular water changes and there will not be a spike. Cheaper and easier than finding another solution (but thats my opinion for what its worth )
  23. are you on the Kiwibiker forum. My son is Squiggles and I just use adodge.
