Yes, I've been hanging out hoping that the big males (imports) wouldn't die off before this lot of young got old enough to breed from. I've lost a couple of the mature males (imports) in the last couple of days and all my females from the original spawn (the females are the mothers of the girls I am using) that I bred.
Thank you so much for the link. Thats the sort of info I was hoping to get out of posting the pictures. I was a bit stunned when I saw him and it appears that quite a few more from this dragon spawn are going to follow suit. The randomness that comes from breeding fighters in NZ has certainly come out in this particular spawn (different to the spawn that has produced the red and silver, red and green dragons) as I also appear to have the odd double tail popping up again.
I've paired this female with this boy who is 8 months old and totally unrelated
They spawned today so hopefully the eggs are fertile and will hatch in a decent sort of number. She is very young but I didn't want to wait too long because of his age.
I've been asked to post some pictures of some of my babies. These males and females are nearly 3 months old.

Knowing the experience of some of you I will be interested in the feedback
I've also taken some pics of my big tank with my new camera so will check them out and maybe post them in the freshwater section.
The change of weather atm is helping me - my dragons spawned this morning. I'm really excited about this spawn, it should produce the best quality dragons yet! This pair only sighted each other for the first time yesterday mid day.
dlums I need to try your system out. Not a major difference to mine but just very subtle changes to the way I do things.
its the first time I've heard of whitespot on discus. Normally the tank temp of 28-30 sorts it out. You could add some salt to the tank. I've got clowns in with my discus and the salt doesn't seem to worry them but the cysts from the white spot won't like it.
Its slow going atm at my place as well. My fault as I have the males and females in tanks where they can see each other all the time. I did have a ct spawn yesterday though.
mature ones I don't know what price. $60 - $80 up here for the young ones. I have a mature one in my tank purchased around the same time as yours. I must fish it out one day and see what sex I think it is.
So sorry to hear this Ryan. I know how much you love your fish and how much care you take to keep the strains pure. Hopefully forum members will be able to assist you to restock your tanks with fish you have bred.
With mine I found that I had to wiggle the worms at the top to attract their attention and get them to eat. I used a toothpick. Unfortunately I lost several who refused to eat, their stomachs became concave and they eventually wasted away. I tried worming but that did not help. However they were the smaller ones.
In my experience, when a dwarf puffer feels like a snack, especially in the middle of the night, no one is safe and that includes other dwarf puffers
Actually I wonder if he/she got in to the filter through the outlet when it was doing its 24hrly thing - you know, when it turns off for a few minutes and then starts again. I honestly don't think it could have gone up through the strainer but it is possible that it dived in the other end when there was no water coming out.
Anyway at least it won't be able to do it again.
If you look at the top right hand side of this page under the federation banner you will see çhat room'. 'Some evenings or day times even various people go on and have a çhat' about things - not normally fish related
