  1. I have a mature male and femle GBA which I would love if they breed. Is there something that I can do to the tank to help start them breeding? (like the cold water change for cories)
  2. Well, I have a breeding group of bronze cories (I brought them as a breeding group) and so far they have breed once in my tank, that was 3 months ago. Only one baby survived. This baby is still in with the parents. Everytime I do a water change I use coldwater to help stimulate a breeding. But I was wondering could it be that they aren't breeding because of the other baby in the tank?
  3. hehe I'm going back on the 25th! still another month of holidays 8) But thats cos i'm starting uni finally! i'm looking forward to it!
  4. ooh, that good, cos it was your (Billaney's) swordtails that I am considering to buy from trade me
  5. I have 3 giant danios, and 3 small danios in my tank and now I want to introduce a new schooling species i'm either wanting swordtails or black widows. Will either of these be a problem with the danios?
  6. thats an interesting point that I hadn't thought of! I used to have 2 brothers in the tank but they started fighting and I separated them, but the other brother died I have knoticed what I think is eggs in the female, so fingers crossed! Unfortunatly for the breeding side of things, I'm going away for most of Jan and I won't be able to see if they have breed...
  7. When I put zucchini in my tanks for my GBAs, the snails eat it too, so when I see that the zucchini has lots of snails on, I take it out and dispose of the snails. I weight the zucchini down with a spoon.
  8. Salmon have a good sense of smell so they can return to their birth place to breed and they do this through the sent in the water
  9. I have: 3 cats called Firefly, Dragonfly (they are brothers) and Casey. 4 birds - 2 budgies called Piper and Gomez. And 2 finches. And then all the fish
  10. Well i have 1 male and 1 female GBA that i'm wanting to breed, but I was wondering if others found that having them as a trio (2 females and 1 male) produced greater sucess rate on getting offspring. Any opinions on this?
  11. it is a shame cos if we did do the walk then atleast I would be able to say that I walked around the lake! I hope that the Kiwi House is still open - it could be interesting. Does anyone know if the national aquarium has changed in the last year?

did you get them recently? I found that mine were real scardy cats but now they only kinda swim away from me so if you got them recenly i'd wait a while and get some more 8)
  14. Does that mean that I couln't hire them from some one there? Cos I would like to do some kayaking but not if it means buying a kayak...
  15. thanks for the warning 8) Unfortunatly since we're only staying 2 nights we won't beable to walk around the whole thing.
  16. My parents just came back from their holiday and they did that walk! but why are you telling me about Tauranga? Are there any animal parks or fish places in Gisborne? Is ANIMAL KRACKERS PET PARK any good? My dad is a keen mountain biker so if there are any tracks it would be good to know about them. I would like to do golf or mini putt - is there any mini putt or cheap golfing in gisborne?
  17. I'm going on holiday with my dad in Jan and we don't really know what we're going to do so I thought there might be locals on here (and non-locals of course) that could give me advice on what we could do. I'm not really into the high adventure stuff... walks could be good if they have a good view. We are going to Napier for 2 nights - I went there a year ago so seen marine world and the national aquarium (I actually went twice ) We will be going to Cape Kidnappers. Then we and my aunty and her two kids will be going to Lake Waekaremoana for two nights!! :-? I don't know how I'm not gonna get bored... if there are anything to do at the lake it has to be good for a nine year old.. Then we are going to gisborne for 5 nights. Any advice?
  18. I've had kinda similar thing happen with danios. But their belly swells up really big. What I did is put the fish in an icecream container or something like it because then they can't spread the disease. Sorry I can't help with the diagnosis

  23. I have bronze corys in the tank (and can't move them to any other tank) I think I'll let the parents try to raise them themselves - but if it doesn't work out I'll try to raise them myself. Will the mother try to eat the babies?
