  1. have you read the basic starters guide? its as a sticky at the top of the marine page- its very good... Small tanks are harder to maintain. I would recommend a 150-200L tank for a beginner, not to big to require lots of expensive equipment and stock to fill and not to small that keeping water parameters stable. Marine tanks (tropical) are pretty easy to maintain as long as you are willing to spend the $ to get some decent equipment and are prepareed to read lots and spend a bit of time each week testing water parameters, dosing stuff etc... Check out othr tanks on here and elsewhere to get you started, and ask lots of questions...

    No the common plec is the one beginners often buy without realising they grow massive... They are like the sailfin plec but withouth the sailfin :lol:

  6. TDS meters for fish tanks have been round for ages, they are used to check the effectiveness of DI resins etc. Have one at work (Pen type) must be going on 10 years old- still works well

  8. on a 4 ft you don't really have much of a choice when it comes to hangons unfortunatley, unlike smaller tanks. Pretty much the Deltec or a Red Sea Prism at a stretch. ...

  14. i normally do a side as a time if I do that on my tank.. Move corals to right, do what needs doing on rocks on left, then move corals to left and do what is needed on right...

  18. what species is the dotted rabbitfish at HFF Mt. Roskil. I was trying to find info but there are about 8 different species of spotted rabbitfish plus hybrids. Anyone know? cheers
