  8. Three hours!!!!! No wonder your plants are dying. Try leaving lights on at least 10 hours per day. In the tropics the sun is up about 12 hours per day.Plants need light to sustain themselves.
  9. Vanilla Ice MC Hammer Baywatch Computer games Grunge,(Nirvana etc) Teenage mutant ninja turtles Many more things, AHHHHHHHHHH I miss the ninties, lol
  10. Firstly,as everyone else has stated, you need to be more specific with the typre of plants. where did you purchase plants from?? My first thought is the plants have been grown emersed(out of water) and need to be acclimatised to being submersed. Secondly, you say you are giving them heaps of light. Well how much? what type of lights are they, what watt, what is the depth of the tank. Artificial light is nowhere near as bright as the sun and most plants require a fair amount to grow healthily. Feeding plants ferts is no good until plants have established and roots system has developed. But again its had to say as you have not ID'd the plants in question. Answer some of these questions and we will be able to help a bit more.
  11. Im guessing here(cos theres no such thing as a rich person in WangaVegas, lol) Do these people own the assets? I bet most is owned by the banks, and they will be the first to start worrying with the stae of the economy. Just my 2cents, and we know what 2c buys these days
  12. Bummer Stella!!! Do you think it had anything to do with the warmer temps we been having this week??

  16. Do the leaves look like this? This is Affinis. Crypt leaves can look different depending on light, temp etc. Flower is the best way to id. Again, well done
  17. http://www.nationaalherbarium.nl/Crypto ... f/aff.html This is my guess Cryptocoryne Affinis One of the few to flower while submerged.
  18. That Billaney, is what I am trying to acheive with my set up. It is a cryptocoryne Flower. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: I am very jealeous  Usually they only flower when grown emersed. How long has the plant been in your tank?? do you know what crypts you have in your tank? Cheers Simon
  19. With a testing kit, or take sample of water to lfs and they should be able to test it for you. Silver dollars.......... equal no plants feed them lettuce and they will slow down on the attack of plants, although they aree still seen as food to them You will be getting green water from a nutrient imbalance,. Try a week long black out in the tank and then add some Indian fern or duck weed as it uses up excess nutrients faster.althouh with silver dollars, it prob wont last long enough to do the job. HTH

  21. Im not Alan , but yes, Its Hygrophila Polysperma
  22. Ira, thats perfect for a cat, ha ha, I love it
  23. Get a culture of daphnia started. The advantage of daphnia is they will remain alive in with the babies until eaten, so they dont pollute the water as fast. They do have a high death rate. Mine are just growing front legs, and im down to about 40% of what i started with. They have varying growth rates also. The warmer the water, the faster they hatch. I wouldnt set mine higher than 18 degress C
  24.   OOOOOOOOOPPPPSSS   Stella did, Yes they are in the river further up, but I know where there is some closer to town, in a side stream where the water is not brackish.
