  1. Hello and Welcome. Good luck with your dreams. NZ is such a lovely country, I know a guy that moved here from South Africa two years ago.(he was just under 21 at the time so he took advantage of coming over on his parents visa) He vows to never live in SA again, and thinks NZ is paradise. I gues we dont really know how lucky we are here. Anyway. Good Luck and Welcome to the site.

    to many pets ?

There is quite a large flock in behind Wanganui/Hunterville area. I used to know a guy that used to climb the trees to get the eggs and young birds. He wore a full face helmet and an armour like suit, with a pair of leather welding gloves inside another pair of leather gloves. Even still he used to get bitten and it drew blood. So funny to see dressed like that. There is also(or was about 1998ish) a flock of wild green Budgies living on the eastern slopes of Ruahine ranges. Never forget sitting in the sun in a large clearing east of Sunrise Hut, and seeing a couple of hundred budgies in the trees.
  3. Makesure the moss is really dense as they tend to eat most of the eggs. the more moss, the higher the egg survival rate. Feed them up on daphnia, mossie larvae etc to condition them. Good luck
  4. Rainbows, more Dwarf Cichlids, more Rainbows
  5. I used to do a bit of hunting until I started to work in retail. .222 , .308 and a 7mm.Then got poor and sold em all. Used to go out as often as i could. Great stress relief(being outdoors hunting, not so much the killing part).
  6. Yeah im doubting it too. Just some ideas
  7. Possibly the wood. I have a large container outside with lots of wood in it and when I put the hose over it to top it up, it bubbles up heaps. If your filter is a hang on the back style it could be doing the same?? Is your water coloured by the leeching tannins from the wood?? HTH
  8. Excess protiens in water coloumn maybe?? What do you feed them?
  9. And Briscoes. Check out the difference in prices from this post about FX5's viewtopic.php?f=4&t=36242
  10. Beat me to it TM. Thats what I was meaning too. Boxing day sales are a prime example. The discount is off RRP. Pre Xmas a lot of the stuff is on sale too and alot of it is just as cheap. Its the mentality thing. Think your getting a deal, wheras you just paying slightly less than last week without the hype.
  11. Just because its on sale or discounted, doesnt always mean its the cheapest available. Many places sell stuff under RRP everyday. Is that what you mean Barrie???

    This or that

Rugby (although Id prefer motorsport. ) Long or Short
  13. Yep, thanks Ira, but Its not this site Im trying to do it on. It doesnt have the same options as this site. Got it sorted now. Thanks Zev
  14. I grow it in with some tadpoles. Yes goldfish will eat it. You need good lighting. It is a stem plant so will sent out roots from the stem nodes. Remove any rotting or damaged sections and allow roots to form. Does not grow as compact under artificial lights, and does best with some movement in the water. HTH
  15. Cool thanks Mystic. Do you know if that is standard or does it vary from site to site. Im trying to put it on my blog, but have a funny feeling that the blog site is not allowing it as it could be used to direct people away from the site.
  16. Iam trying to figure out how igo about making clickable links. The ones that show up blue, where you can call them anything you like, and can click on them to be directed to that particular place. Does that make any sense?
  17. Why are your lights on for sol long if you dont have plants?? I would cut the lights down a bit more for a start. I got rid of the green water in one of my tanks by blacking it out for a couple of days. Green water ins a single cell organism that will run out of energy wery fast as it is unable to store it. Cutting out the light will kill it off faster. also keep up the water changes.
  18. I went in this arvo, it was still there bout 3ish. phoenix44, yeah ill pm you bout the rainbows
  19. Just the small one that ormally retais for $99. I think its the 30 x 30 model. I also bought some threadfin rainbows today with the intention of breeding them. What price do the Kutubu rainbowfish (Melanotaenia Lacustris) sell for? I havent seen them before in the shops.
  20. What sort of rainbows do you have?? I made an impulse buy today at the Animates sale. Bought me an Exo Terra Terranium for my frogs. Also bought lots of dry food for my fish($80 worth ) and was going to buy a lighthood but couldnt get to them to look as they were behind a pile of animal crates, and i was in to much of a hurry to try rummage my way through them. :-?
  21. Damn weekend sales. They only seem to have them the weekends that I have to work and cant get down to the closest store which about an hour away. So koura do live in acid conditions!!! I would have thought the low levels of calcium would not be good for them. What adaptable creatures our country has
  22. Id be very worried about the Koura in low ph conditions. I know they prefer harder water, and their shell is made of calcium. Acidic conditions and calcium to me is not really a good mix. Correct me if Im wrong people.
