  1. I'm off there tomorrow, any recomendations?
  2. Mum and Dad are being very protective, chasing off anyone else that comes close but no damage to any of the other fish, just a mouth full of foul fish language I'm sure  Sometimes Mum fogets who Dad is and chases him too!
  3. Thanks very much, I feel like the proud parent too . Although most of you are used to new fry, I'm just really stoked to have them and have spent ages watching the little family get around the tank. Prior to this I've only had baby Swords and some unsuccessful Angel eggs so this is really exciting. Of course the next thing is if they survive waht am I going to do with them all!!??
  4. My Kribs have fry. I'm besotted with them as this is the first time. Mum and Dad are doing a great job and although they're in a community tank, Mum and Dad are not letting anyone else close. The fry seem to be foraging about for food but is there something I should be feeding them? And what about water changes, I don't want to suck them up!!!
  5. Ha, ha, my Siamese fighter is the worst for playing in the water as I refill the tank. He thinks it's the best fun as he gets blown all around the tank. Used to scare me at first but now I'm used to it
  6. Geez, I'm full of questions!! So, the eggs were laid on Friday, when are they likely to hatch? And when should I shift them?
  7. I have 1 spare tank but it's tiny, about 35cm long, used to keep a trio of Killies in it. I could move them in there but would it be too small?
  8. I have a pair of Pearl gourami, some tetras, 3 little catfish and a bristlenose. The kribs have spawned in a terracotta pot in 1 corner of the tank, everyone else is keeping well away. My intention was not to breed but mother nature takes her course and they are great to watch. What feeding requirements do the fry have?
  9. :bounce: My Kribs spawned for the first time yesterday so now what? They are in a community tank and doing a great job keeping the eggs safe without too much damage to the other occupants so far but what do I do from here?
  10. Sold then!! I really like the look of them and think they'll look good in my tank set up. My angels are only recently moved into the tank and obviously like it cos they spawned within a week but ate the eggs after 2 days, man, they got fiesty  so will they be ok with the Serpaes?
  11. I have a 4 footer that currently houses my 3 young clown loaches, a 3 inch bristlenose and 3 teenage angels although 1 will be moving as the other 2 have paired up and are picking on it. So I'm thinking I'd like some tetras and I like the Serpaes. Now, I know they can be fin nippers but with maybe a group of 10 I thought they might leave the Angels alone. Any thoughts?
  12. Aquatic mix? No one stocks it down my way, the nearest possibility is 2 hours drive away. Is there anything else I can use? Thanks
  13. Just trying to work out which filter to get, that's why I wanted the litres, still open to suggerstions for the occupants tho'!!
  14. Was thinking maybe a pair of rams might be nice in there, what do you think? Tank too small?
  15. I'm not sure of the equation, can anyone tell me the litres in this tank? And to make it worse the measurements are in inches.......L=29,H=15, D=15. I've been given this tank but haven't picked it up yet. The measurements tell me it's not very tall so what would be good to keep in it, I'm thinking maybe a couple of feature fish, some great plants and a good size school of small tetras? any suggestions?
  16. Finally got me a male krib and today I released him into the community tank. Now he's just a young fella and only about half the size of the female(the wife) and today she's in a bad bad mood. She's giving everyone in the tank some attitude. I keep checking on him and she's definately sizing him up, her tummy is bright, bright pink. I'm nervous for the poor boy, hope he survives the night!!!
  17. My male lives with breeding swords and 2 teenage bristlenoses, oh, and 6 neons. He's a very mellow guy except with female Betta.
  18. I have a floating log thing that although ugly is much loved by lots of my fish, the gouramis and clown loaches in particular. My dwarf male is a grumpy little bugga and doesn't like to share it at all but the 3 loaches like to sleep in it and gang up and push him out at night and boy does he have some tantrums about it!!
  19. it's a Killie "love hotel"!!!
  20. love the O, showing his Canterbury colours!!!
  21. My Betta is the most people friendly fish I have. He comes to the front of the tank whenever you are near and wraps his fins around my fingers when my hand is in the tank. He is very curious about anything new in the tank. He lives with breeding swords and although he may eat fry at birth, he's not greedy and I have plenty living happily in the tank. Sometimes he will chase the adult swords but he has never done them any harm, he just likes to show them who's boss. He also has the bonus of being very beautiful and don't he know it!!! Get one, look after him well and you won't be sorry. Oh and I'd like to add the Krib, I have a lone female who's just joined the community tank and she's very outgoing, hangs out all over the tank and sometimes displays her lovely pink tummy. As yet she shows no aggression. I'd heard they spend a lot of time hiding but not this girl and she has plenty of caves to choose from if she wants.
  22. I'm asking lots of questions so my apologies in advance! I've bought a new 4 footer which is the biggest tank I've had so far and trying to get all the gear together before it gets here. So I've been offered a Aqua One AT882 filter, a freebie and only 6 months old, is this going to do the job in a tank of that size? I'm told it's suitable for up to 300l and the tank is 243(??). Thanks in advance!
  23. Mystic, what do you mean not as good. That's a fantastic tank for your Aro,it must be huge cos he looks small and is that a knife I see hiding over the back in the first shot?
  24. Ok, so this has got me thinking. I was considering a school of neons to live in a 2 footer with my male Betta but what about cardinals? My Betta is a beautiful red boy and I thought the neons would look good with him but maybe cardinals would look better!! Considering the tank is small, how many would be a good number?
