    DIY tips

Had a stacked rubber maid drawer set 6 drawers about 8 or 9" tall each that overflowed from the top to the next till the bottom became a mini sump and pumped it back to the top again. Wish I still had the unit now, will have to make another The trick was the flex tubing between drawers so that you could still open and close each one.
  2. If allowing for the adult size of each fish I would have top say yer over stocked ./wink Good job!!

What I have found from brand new media is that it will take a bit (time) for all the air to be forced out of the ceramics/bioballs etc.. May not be related but is what I have noticed.
  4. Would looked for one of the Veturi type units for waterbeds. Is the basic idea behind the Python units. This way can not only use to refill but with a twist of the bottom can be used to drain/clean the gravel etc.
  5. There is also a gallery function here on the site that can be used can it not? Haven't looked close at the version etc yet.
  6. Not sure on availablility there but try some of the grey "cunduit" piping. Have used it quite a bit in network and phone cabling, a heat gun and it can be molded quite easy.
  7. As promised here are pics.. Okay so it's a slideshow but in the 18 included images there are L201's, ABN's and my Aphyosemion ogoense, and australe http://www.canadianfishforums.com/galle ... itemId=171
  8. Well was the DRAS regular meeting and auction last night.. Picked up a trio of Aphyosemion ogoense- 80/24. 1m 2f. for 10CDN. Will snag a pic later tonight if they cooperate.
  9. Call the LFS ahead and have them order ?
  10. I would first take a peek for any leaks in the cap and tubing that may be allowing the gas out and thus not building the pressure required to force a bubble out the bottom of the line.
  11. I have been using these But I can't seem to find the power ratings at the moment grrr
  12. The hutch in front of the window is where I was considering but I too am hesitant based on the pc's and water not being all that friendly with eachother. I'll find a spot yet.. Just picked up new light yesterday for my 50G Bow Front jumped from 25w to 192w what a difference but that's another story.
  13. I'm actually debating on putting it across the top of the hutch on my desk but need to make damn sure no leeks as there is a lot of computer equipment under and around the desk.
  14. Another option is to take a small soda bottle, cut the top "funnel" part off, put a rock or other weight in the bottom with some lettuce, put the top back into the bottle pointy end first and place in the bottom of the tank. The snals should find thier way into the bottle and not be smart enough to find thier way out. Keep an eye on the "trap" if you have any small fish and release them if they get trapped. Side note the above can also be used to catch small hard to catch fish just bait with pellets or other foods.
  15. Hey JN.. A week later and all 4 are healthy and appear happy they were a lil timid for the first day or two as most fish are with a move but can be seen buzzing about the tank and have already figured out who I am it seems. As to other inhabitants in the tank there are a few Molly Teenagers That I need to move once again, a pair of Fire and Ice Platties also need to be moved soon, some Ghost shrimp thinking these will stay, and Clouseau one of my L201's. I also was given the pictured "tank" recently and am half think a killie grow out tank but am unsure yet.. Oh the sizes of the "tank" are 36"X6"X6" weird sizes eh? And the glass plate sitting inside it at the moment can be used as a divider by the looks of the fit. My neighbour does Stained Glass and his Parents own a Glass Shop so getting a couple pieces of glass for a lid should be no issue.
  16. I picked em up at Big Al's but that does no good in NZ sorry..
  17. Covers can be made quite inexpensively with the plastic craft mesh sheets or the difusor panels for office lighting. The mesh can be used to divide tanks aswell with having to add addional pumps heaters etc. Water flows through but the holes too small for fish. Really small fry might be able to get through though but you can always separte the species before they get mature enough to x-breed.
  18. A couple shrimps wanted in on the action so there are two shots of hem too I think I have these tagged right as to the gender on the AFF's Male AFF Hiding AFF FeMale AFF Male AFF Stray Ghost Shrimp Male AFF FeMale AFF / L201 reflection.. 19. Thanks Alan with that and a quick chech it appears that I verywell may have 3 Females and 1 male. The black spot is rather to the rear of the dorsal but very obvious now that I look for it on the 3 and the 4th I can't see even a spec on the dorsal. Will have to try and get some pics up soon.
  20. Aquired 4 of these today I am currently unsure of genders as they are somewhat smallish. Here's hoping
