  1. The HBAS (Hawkes BAy Aquarium Society) runs Auctions as well, mainly Fish and Hardware but we have the odd auction where anything can be auctioned. Raffles every now and then, and even A Fish Expo helps the club funds. And of course the good old subscriptions (These only just cover the day to day running of the club, newsletters etc) /Bruce
  2. Hi Paul Yes they are great parents, the eggs will be fine where they are, dont forget to start a brineshrimp culture if you can. The parents will move them around from time to time so dont get alarmed if you see them with babies in their mouths :-) Congrats /Bruce
  3. I would tend to disagree.. Make the cheque out to cash :-) With even such a small photo, cant see any egg spots on the anal fin Name pseudotropheus sp Could be anything, but who cares, nice fish /Bruce
  4. I am pretty sure I saw some heat pads in a wholesalers catalogue, PM me if you are interested. they would not be cheap however, as Warren said, its heating the water that counts, The power company doesnt care how you heat your fish they just want your money :-) /Bruce
  5. Chuckle Another thing to remember when adding airstones is to make sure the is only the cuurent from the airstone running over the eggs, I have found if you have the Air bubbles running over the eggs the will fungus very quickly /Bruce
  6. HI Caryl, so I see, have posted a reply on this, looks though they have changed their minds since they were contacted, unfortunate but we will have to carry on with Kennedy Park, Arataki etc. Will do some homework over the weekend and come up with some more options for you all. /Bruce
  7. Looks as though we have a bit of mis communication with Hinepare. Julie rang them not so long ago and they quoted $16 per nigh for their accomodation. Unfortunately it looks as though they haved changed tack on this The options from here are Kennedy Park Arataki Holiday Park (Havelock North-Hastings) There are already people from other clubs booked in there for the weekend For help with any other accomodation options please do not hesitate to email me [email protected] with your requirements and I will see what else will suit /Bruce
  8. Sure Fish can be sent up to Napier. For those unable to attend there are a couple of options 1: Send them with someone who will be making the trip, looks as though there are people coming from all corners of NZ so talk to your fellow club members and talk to them nicely or 2: Courier them to the HBAS, (Contact for this to be advised) The interest is looking pretty good, hopefully we will have an overabundance of fish for the show. /Bruce

  11. We use a Electromagnetic pump in our fish room, 1 pump runs all the sponge filters (approx 30 tanks) The pump delivers 60 litres a minute Works great. /Bruce

  16. Depends on how well you feed them :-) 6 weeks would be getting close to a reasonable size /Bruce
  17. I am not a great fan of traps, they stress the fish out you could end up losing the female before she gives birth, some java moss or similar in a larger tank has the same effect, the babies can hide in there to keep out of harms way. /Bruce
  18. We never exclude anybody or any club, the more people there are the better it will be. Chris As for an Auction, well you never know /Bruce
  19. Rob Said Broken link, I thought Kelly had removed that info from his page ages ago? /Bruce
  20. I have bred these cats a couple of times, absolutely the hardest fish I have ever tried Have tried all the tricks in the book. For me they spawned when I had given up in frustration, as for raising them, thats even worse!!!! I have found that if you dont give them heaps of infusoria they will die off very quickly Good Luck (You will need it) But dont let what I have written here stop you, they are a beautiful little fish and well worth the effort /Bruce
  21. Cat Said Sounds like a good idea, The HBAS comittee had a meeting tonight and this (Conference 04) was a pretty hot topic on the agenda. HBAS will look at putting on something later on this year for those who can not afford or who wish not to attend the conference this year. Dates are yet to be confirmed but will be around mid September. It will be something similar (Maybee ) to what we did in October 02. It was felt that as we are the biggest club within the FNZAS that we must make an effort to try and bring fish people from all the clubs together for a fishy weekend of some description that everyone can enjoy. For those who didnt attend last time, I can assure you it wont cost you a large amount of money. Look out for more details at a later date /Bruce
  22. MTCW We have members of the Hawkes Bay Club that dont even keep fish. Some of them have kept them in the past and continue the membership for the fun of it. Join A Club Get Involved /Bruce
  23. Have you named them yet???? We name ours of course :-) /Bruce
  24. Its called Snail Rid, and yes it will knock off the plant, but seems to work OK Good luck with the next batch of Angels /Bruce
