  1. Just wondering if you looked at joining a local fish club? There are 3 in Wellington and some of the members have marine tanks or are setting them up I understand The more people with marine tanks who join local clubs will hopefully encourage members to get into this side of fishkeeping /Bruce
  2. I am not keeping marines at the moment, need to convince the btter half first and find some time to get it done, there is a Marine club forming in Auckland I believe, will try and find an email address for you, you should be able to get some info from some of those involved Good Luck /Bruce
  3. Hi looks as though that will do the trick You will need to get a hole(s) cut in your tank by a local glass company, they charge around $10.00 per hole to drill them but well worth it as they will be responsible for the damage if any  You should be able to get these fittings from Plumbing World Mico Wakefield Mastertrade They are supplied with a rubber gasket but I would be inclined to throw the seal and use a aqurium sealant on both sides to be certain of a good water tight seal /Bruce Ira, I recently spent some time in the States and found the prices were comparable with what we pay here. There was a better selection but on the whole I think we do alright here. I did see Pirahnas for sale though  , but really couldnt see me having those
  4. Hi pojt me to an American site that talks about "Bulkhead Fittings" I think I know what you mean but want to get my facts straight first before I dive on in :-) Good luck with your project, it is something that I have been contimplating for some time, just a matter of convincing the better half /Bruce

    siamese tigers

Hi Richard $100 and up seems to be the price for these guys unfortunately I would suspect the shop would have a hard job selling a "PAIR" if indeed they were at the price they want for them You never know your luck , if you order one from your LFS then you might get it a bit cheaper if they know it will be in and out of their door within days /Bruce

  13. I hope everyone who attended had a great time, it seems so, the only hickup was Mitch's Fish from what I understand has been sorted out thanks to Alan Wakelin We will have a meeting over the next week or 2 and decide if we are going to do this again, we have learnt alot with this one and hopefully it would be better and easier next time. If we do this again it will be every 2 years, yearly would be too much work and I believe it could go a bit stale as well My thanks go's to all of our club members who helped out in this event, in particular Les Riddell and Kevin Mawson who really took the bull by the horns when I dumped everything in their laps with a days notice when I had to make a rush trip to the US. Thanks to all attended to make a great weekend, it is the people that make it    If you have any suggestions or comments please let me know so we can make it better in the future Thanks Everyone Bruce W President HBAS

  20. Fire Ruins Hawkes Bay Aquarium Society Weekend Well not really  There are several old nurse hostels on Napier hill, the one that burnt down has been emoty for some years, it WAS located at the other end of the Napier hospital. One of our club members did ring me early Friday morning and left a message on my phone saying that the hostel had burnt down I didnt even know at that point, so you can imagine the PANIC So your accomodation is still there /Bruce

    virus's

Re above, We are also getting the ones about people having millions of dollars to give away...why cant they just send me the cash  I suspect these ones are coming through the Killie Fish mailing list though As for viruses I have not had any but I do run Nortons which is updated weekly Mitch.. I will resend the white cloud emails if you require them /Bruce
  25. Hi Pegasus The easiest solution I think is a centrally heated tank which is pumped to your smaller tanks, I have this setup in my fish room, also I have a 2400w fan heater setup in there as well This is hooked up to a thermostat set to 23 degrees If you are worried about infection by having all tanks connected then use a UV filter in the line this should eliminate this problem MTCW anyway /Bruce
