    newbie

Hi Nicky Welcome to the forums I agree with Andrew, I dont like using chemicals in tanks, for a start a good filtration system will make them ineffective within hours. The cloudiness could be from the stones, did you wash them first? Stones will have very fine particles of dust with them which need to be removed before putting them into your tank. Patient is the main thing when it comes to aquariums Where are you from Nicky?, as Andrew suggested attend a local club and there will be someone there that can assist you in the hobby. Regards /Bruce
  7. WOW, What a response already NO Dutch Auctions  Those wanting to come up for the weekend will need to start booking accomodation NOW. Labour Weekend is a busy time in the Bay, if you need any information on this please let me know and I will help you out where I can Cheers Bruce Who Mentioned Red Wine????
  8. What will be auctioned will be decided on close to the time, depends alot on what has been bred by FNZAS members. Will also include plants as well. /Bruce
  9. Yes it will be a uncompetitive show. Will keep everyone advised as things take shape Thanks for the feedback Andrew Cheers /Bruce
  10. The Hawkes Bay Club is looking at putting on a Fish Display on the Saturday of Labour Weekend (19th October), This will be open to the public. We are also considering (Depending on interest from other clubs) The possibility of running a auction on the saturday night. (Open to all FNZAS affiliated club members) We would like to auction off a minimum of 200 lots (ideally more) and this is where we need the support of other clubs to boost the number of lots to be auction off. We as a club could possibly manage 100-150 lots. If you are interested or know someone who might be pleae pass this on at your next club night (A letter to all clubs will go out in the near future to guage interest). Normally our auctions have "No Reserve" but if you would like to put a reserve on any of the lots then this is acceptable as well. We normally take a 20% commission on all fish sold to cover costs (Venue Hire etc). If you have any comments or suggestions please do not hesitate to post a message here or email me. Thank You Regards /Bruce Also a great opportunity to have a look at the National Aquarium Of New Zealand while you are in Sunny Hawkes Bay http://www.nationalaquarium.co.nz

Hi Karen I kept 6 Discus in a 4 ft tank with U/g Filtration with no problems at all They were all brought as young ones and put into a fairly established tank Just have fun with them they are a beautiful fish that will fight occasionally so just make sure they can hide somewhere if they have to We kept ours in the lounge and they absolutely love the company Hope this helps a little bit /Bruce
