I have about 20 odd kios of liverock. And a sump which houses about half my liverock and my deltec mc500 skimmer not to mention my chiller which is plumbed into the sump to keep the temp down. took a couple of months to cycle the tank though :-?

Normal tap water should be fine as ChCh water is good. About a 10-20% water change once a week is a good starting point. I match my water temperature as close as possible, but it isn't really necessary... in fact some fish love the fresh cold water and will actively swim in it! If you are interested we have a fish club meeting once a month (first saturday of each month) - ChCh Totally tanked, you're welcome to come and discuss with us any queries you have. It is a social informal meeting to discuss any new fish or problems. We generally post our meeting details at the end of the month in the FNZAS Clubs section.

Well I've finally found a source of mysis shrimp (Thanks littlemsfun ) Went there last night and found thousands, not to mention some more glass shrimps. So my seahorse is very happy about getting live food and is alot more active hunting and not so much sulking! Sadly not long after I lost my boy the wee girl came down with the same thing, and even with force feeding her (which she absolutely hated), and treating her with furan 2 she went down real fast. But since then the tank has stabilised and everything is fine now, not to mention I finally bought a chiller (thanks organism). Just as well what with the temperatures we have been having....the homemade chiller just didn't have enough guts to keep the temperature down enough....

I vote Loopys place!!! :lol: We wanna see whats going at your place!

Thanks DJ will try looking for some when I have some free time.... :roll: am currently renovating at the moment and all my spare time is taken up, not to mention need to go xmas shopping :evil: I lost one of my boys to a bacterial infection he got... he was the one who was refusing to eat the frozen food. I had to force feed him as he was refusing food, he initially seemed to get better, then once he got tail rot his condition went down real fast. The other two are doing well and one of them just loves the water bubbles, sits there hanging onto the pipe when he's not looking for food.

Yeah, already feed them frozen ones, but they prefer live food, and I want to fatten them up. :lol:

Does anyone know where to find live ones? I've been told near the estuary but have no idea where to go. I'm looking for them for my seahorses to fatten them up. Thanks for any help
