  1. What do people think of this skimmer? Would it be good enough? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=110637165
  2. Yeah, I'm doing the research now, but will slowly set it up. From what i've read it will take a few months to get everything sorted before I add the seahorses. Considering I was going to do this about a year ago, I think I can wait a few more months!  I think livingart has some potbellies which will be ready in a few months time, but other than that I might go for some kuda's...just depends on how things go...
  3. Is that bad rockerpellar? I don't know that much about marine tanks yet, must go to the library and read up about them... if I do go ahead with this, i'll have to get rid of the tanks current inhaitants.
  4. I'm thinking of making it as a species only tank. The tank is currently in our hallway and it doesn't really warm up there except in the height of summer. So what type of live rock do you think I should use?

    seahorses

Hi, I'm thinking of turning my 90L hexagonal tank into a seahorse tank. It's currently running as a freshwater community tank with a Fluval 204 filter. Any ideas on this? Also what other things would I need to get? Cheers, Erica
  6. I find that sometimes if my filter is putting out too much crap i will sometimes up hold the outlet up to a bucket and restart it then, then once the filter is running clear again put the outlet back into the tank, saves my tank from getting too dirty.
  7. hi loopy, should hopefully make it this time...was out of town last time maybe make it a pot luck?
  8. Hi boi, In the bottom tray we used some biomax from our other tank to seed the tank, as well as eheim substrat pro (which i had to put in a bag as the tray holes are too big for these). Then i used ammonocarb and nitro-zorb in the second tray. In the top tray i used filter wool and prefilter in the top tray. Good luck with setting up the tank!
  9. Awesome price bOi, we managed to get one while we were in aussie, they were selling them at $340 aussie dollars, so we had a bargain! Been running it for about 4 months now and its great! Its nice and quiet and the 2 minute stopping to let the gases out makes a huge difference to the sound! Good luck with the new toy
  10. Hi Caper. when you do your maintenance you should probably use your tank water to rinse your media. Also when you need to change your media leave some of the old media to seed the new media as these will contain the beneficial bacteria needed to breakdown ammonia etc. It would probably also be good to do a 10-20% water change weekly. Good luck with the fishes!!!
  11. Hi! sounds like your having fun with the breeding!!! The person who sells the water changing siphon which attaches to a tap and will both syphon the water out and add water as well is MIKEFISH he's not selling any at the moment but they often on there. Cheers, erica

    Hi Everyone

Hi I'm new to the forum thing, but keep finding this site when i'm searching for info on potential fish, so i thought i would join up... I have three tanks at the moment a new 5 ft tank which we are setting up as a community/cichlid tank, our old 3 ft tank which we will be setting up as a discus tank and a hexagonal tank which we are hoping to set up as a coldwater seahorse tank, but unfortunetly we can't find any available at the moment so it is currently being used as a growing on tank for for neons and danios, as well as our siamese fighter fish...
