he seems to be going after my surinamensis the most which are alot bigger than him & he thinks the whole tank is his, he's never picked a hiding spot, theres plenty to choose from, sounds silly but ive been giving the fish extra food to help my surinamensis grow & hes had abit of a growth spurt in the last week & a half, looks like nearly 1cm & now he thinks hes bullet proof.

theres heaps of plants & things so the other fish aren't always in his line of sight but he's actually swimming around looking for fish to hassle, its only started in the last couple of days, all the fish are hiding from him!

in my tank i have a redtailed shark thats been peaceful till now, he's chasing everything in the tank & only stopping to eat, i have 3 bn, 2 pictus, 1 pleco, 1 gae, 3 surinamensis ( they seem to be getting it the worst) 1 hoplo & a few danios. can anyone suggest a fish to add that will calm him down, getting rid of him is a last resort & im not to keen on adding more sharks.

i had problems with the Dwarf Gouramis, not to say you will but they died off 1 by 1, they just stopped eating. only real problem ive had in my tank so far was with them but they are lovely fish

dont come to palmy either, i think we get the worst weather in nz!

it all starts with one small tank & small fish soon you'll be wanting a slightly bigger tank with bigger fish & so on!!! good luck with whatever you decide on!

its bad enough we have to go to the one somewhere in auckland next month, if my bf finds out theres on in welly we'll be down there every week :roll:

what a crackup reading this, my bf's parents are english & they strange stuff they eat blows me away, dippy cheese, yorkshire puds, mushy pea soup???? wagon wheels, jaffa cakes, the list goes on, & yeah they have vinegar on their chips, hot chips not "chips" lol & they think im strange for not knowing what their freaky foods are!

now theres some smart thinking!! i would say that about rabbits too but only wild ones!

after reading about it i think they may be going abit too far, surely no good can come of messing with nature, as for the glowing pigs, what next, glow in the dark cats?

:lol: how bout you hide them in your pants!! if your taking orders i'll take about a dozen to start, maybe more if you are going to use your shoes aswell.

a school of those would look nice in my tank!!! not sure on the smuggling bit tho, were would you hide them...........

yip we used to catch the big ones to cook, not that i eat them but others in the family do.

yeah i always thought you werent allowed to catch them, i was told off when i was younger by people that said white people weren't allowed to catch them, sad but ture & when i was given the ones i had for awhile i was told not to say where they came from, but if the lsf said its fine then who knows..........

no, after the one crawled out of the tank one nite & i stood on it i only had one left, it lived for a few years but died when i lost all of my gold fish one week, something nastie in the water was my only guess. they have one in the lfs but they are not allowed to sell them but you are allow to go & catch them yourself, according to them.

used to keep mine with gold fish but they nip their tails, they eat left over fish food, snails & tiny bits of meat, make sure you have a good lid so they cant climb up the airline hose & get out.

MysticVampire, could you put up the pic if your allowed, im really keen to see it ( purely because i have an interest in catfish) & i was just asking if it was still at wet pets, i haven't seen it there, they had a lovely red tailed catfish but im not sure what happened to it.
