thanks, also the top supports had been cut off but they where inside the tank not across the top of the tank, do they need to be across the top or would it be fine to put them back inside? the tank is only 48cm wide & 48cm high.

im not having too many plants & will have mostly fake ones, so far the pictus have destroyed the ones in the tank at the mo, i have one cabomba (sp) left & a flax type one that now floating, they swim so fast & frenzied they stuff everything :lol:

yeah i am really pleased!! went to the lfs & the Columbian Tetras are really pale looking & no colour on there fins , didn't see any rummy nose tetras, it will be awhile before the tank is up & running, but i have a ton of ideas running through my head on what i want to do, i just posted a question about resealing it in the diy if anyone can help, thanks.

i have a 3 ft tank that had mice in it & some of the silicon was peeling off & was really thin in places so i want to reseal it, do i need to remove all of the old silicon from the inside or just the flaky pieces? thanks.

i finally have a new 3 foot tank to put my pictus in!! now question is, i'd like a small school of nice coloured fish to go in aswell but not neons, they where in the tank the pictus are currently in & i'd like something else, any ideas. my cats are still only small & only bothered eating the really tiny neons.

i feed my bn's slices of spud but give it a rinse before i put it in the tank & take it out the next day if its still there, also sliced frozen green beans & i rinse those & take out whats left the next day aswell.

i wont clean it again for awhile then!! but so far im happy with it.

i do the gravel vac & bucket lug thing! will be sorting out a hose long enough to reach out the door or window after chrissy but as antwan said the worst part is filling them back up.

well i have had one in my tank for a week now & did my weekly gravel vac yesterday & was suprised how little muck i scooped up. i cleaned the sponges & the water in the bucket went brown so they seem to be doing a good job so far.

after abit of reading they seem to be simple but effective & under-rated, what are your opinions on them, pros & cons?

if they have a website ( im guessing they would!) go to the contact us bit & send them an email & ask them. i got a new elite & it only said submersible & all the instructions showed the top out of the water. i got hold of them & they sent an email back to say they are fully submersible & some rubbish about what they have to put on the packaging becasue of other countries. ( i printed it out incase something goes wrong with it & the shops trys to tell me they should be completely underwater!)

i think my fry are about 5 weeks old, how old are the when you can tell what sex they are & should the females be seperated as soon as you can tell?? I would like to breed them & have read that keeping the females away from the males helps them grow faster & produce more fry, true or false??? thanks.

did you get it from the fish shop or off trade me??

i had 3 in with 1 male fighter & they never bothered each other

anyone had a go? ive been reading up & there are some interesting ideas on what would trigger them, also does anyone have any idea on telling the sexs apart, i have 6 & have a weak theory that 2 are females, they seem to have slightly different stomach shapes. anyone else have some ideas/ theorys etc?

i have the stick on ones down the bottom of the tank & my glass one was reading 28 with the stick on & i put it down the other end & it read 27 & the stick on was 26, put the glass one in my other tank & it reads 26 & the stick on 25. may have to invest in a better thermometer!

i can feel the difference in temp between the ends, i just did my weekly water change & noticed it. also my smaller tank thats sitting on 26 feels hotter than the my large tank even tho the temp on that one is higher. just going to chuck the glass one in the smaller tank.
