    Fly Control

I use a pyrethrim (sp?) spray, robocan & it works very well.
  2. my 18cm red empress male & my tropheus would all be an even first.

    Limestone

that depends what you are after. if i wanted pieces i would go to a granite& marble company. there are a few around auckland that should have off cuts from tiles, & maybe bench tops etc.
  4. maybe, not sure i will have the time or remember. they are a silver plate with pics of fish on them.
  5. nice work. be prepared for a big brown algae mess which is quite common for new setups, i will reduce over time & depending on what fish you intend to have a GAE or similar could be a good idea.
  6. & all please keep in mind these are discussion forums which brings out different perspectives & discussions from all directions & for the rest of time people will disagree with others. thats just how it is.
  7. i think you are blowing this well out of proportion Mark. You questioned it on fishkeepers & it was removed.
  8. cool, pics when available please. as for the lip locking, i have only ever seen a couple of my males do that.
  9. yes but there are many different ways to create roses that look the same that suit price, production or quality. we can adapt to the new or risk becoming extinct.
  10. this probably comes down to what we all see as acceptable, these days things are commonly done that 20 years ago were not done so its a personal view for each of us IMO. me, i don't see it as underhanded as i won't act on it so don't see it as anything at all. like advertising that "calls to buy", we don't rush out & do what they say yet we are bombarded. Hans post i see more as "branding", making people aware if they want to get involved.
  11. & i truely don't believe that what was posted will effect the voting, we are all smart enough to make our own choices aren't we? maybe it could be better if we concentrated on what we are doing rather than what others are doing. anyone that voted just because Hans asked you to please make yourself known.
  12. totally but at some point we all have to stand up & make a choice for ourselves rather than be sheep following the flock off the cliff. I won't vote for anyone just because they ask me to whether it be Hans or John Key, its my choice.
  13. i have an over writer that checks spelling, this also applies to quoted areas. i didn't change your original post & the checker helps me work out what you are saying.
  14. interesting, kinda like asking for freebies IMO. there will always be people that do that & they don't need to be asked to vote, they look for every oppourtunity to do so. just like there will always be people that think they are treated unfairly because they didn't think of a good idea first. at the end of the day, i doubt that many votes would be generated by asking for one. just ask winston peters to confirm this.
  15. for ages i thought he was an islander, su-pasi.
  16. then that is up to the person voting not the compeditor. Those that have integrity will vote for the right one in their mind not who asked for the vote. I am sure that you would vote for the one you liked un-biased toward a friend right?
  17. so you still have fish, does that mean the mrs has gone?
  18. so you guys vote for the first or every candidate you see campaining in an election or do you make up your own mind & vote for what you prefer?
  19. maybe if you chose an avatar that is more manly .....
  20. mine is because of my surname being smith & the new new zealand accent which is a mumble make me "smid e" & smithy was taken on personalised plates so smidey it is. not to be confused with "smide e". most people don't know my real name & thats how it suited me as a teenager.

    Tank too hot!

I know a guy that used to have over heating issues with his marine, when his house was shut up during teh day the temp would rise considerably. He had to leave enough windows open so the house didn't get hotter than the ambient temp outside which fixed the heating issue but raised security issues.
