  2. Crickey, another 'bloody aussie'. Nah just joking- Welcome to the forum
  3. Great idea warren and alan, in auckland though I haven't seen a cheap heatpump, will call around tomorrow though. Great idea about heating the bottom tanks too dixon. Thanks for the advice
  4. BTW Even though it would be a good idea to run a lead to our neighbours  , if you knew what ours were like you would be keeping your distance...
  5. Sweet, will try out having heaters in some tanks then. Cheers for the help 8)
  6. Does anyone has any cheapish suggestions to maintain a water temp of bout 24 degrees in all of the tanks? The room is insulated on the walls and is 2mx2m. I was thinking maybe a few heaters in the tanks for the fish needing the higher temps and then hoping the water of the unheated tanks will be atleast 22 degrees for guppies, new born goldfish, killies etc. Would this work? I cannot afford a heatpump or anything like that Would there be any better way to heat it? What do you guys do, surely you don't have heaters in every tank... Cheers
  7. Wow thanks, you are really helpful in answering my posts. I will try a while longer for a globe-eyed, but otherwise will get back to you.
  8. Thanks for the input. I do want a globeeyed male except I doubt i'll find one this time of year, so thought I would go for anything with a similar appearance. If anyone knows of a globeeye please let me know. Thanks.
  9. I hope this link is allowed but was wondering if this is a male fish, I need one for my female if it is and this seems to be the best that I can find (the LFS isn't very good with the colwater species) I have no idea how to sex goldfish so thought I would ask here  http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =118931351 Thanks

I did find it weird how he wasn't going to let me view it, I know I most probably wasn't going to buy it but he didn't need to know that.

    what is this worth

I've got $100, might have been lucky though
  13. I use internals only just for the reason of no risk of leaking water out of the tank and easier to clean. I like the eheim pickup filters, although I know of others who would completely disagree. Slightly noisy from experience but very easy to clean and filters tank well, since my large internal aqua one filter became unbearable to hear on my five foot 250L tank, I have put one of these filters in (suitable for only about 90L) and have had amazingly clean water despite this... Will keep it in their unless the water begins to get dirty, but my tank is lightly stocked and reasonably planted. Hope some of this waffle helps you
  14. All the choices I find the eheim pickup filters quite noisy, but maybe its just in need of a clean or something. I'll note all these filters and go and see what are stocked. Thanks for your help
  15. Yeah, I do have an external at the moment but as there won't be many fish in the tank and they will only be tetras there is no need for such a powerful filter (I think its actually a fluval 204). My eheim one I have on another tank is quite noisy because of its air diffusor thats attatched. Thanks for the suggestions, do they still have sharks filters stocked in pet shops, haven't seen thema round for a while.
  16. What internal filters do you guys on this forum suggest? I am looking for an 100L tank for a bedroom so preferably quiet filters... Anyone have any bad/good experiences with particular types? Thanks for your help :bounce:
  17. Congrats ducati, fishboi, if you are talking about me I have been unsuccessful breeding them out of season, as the weather is now warming up, I have began to recondition them and breed them in season
  18. Seen albino orandas etc in books and was wondering if anyone has anything that is albino in goldfish??
  19. I'm pretty sure albinilism is always a recessive trait, irrespective of the species
  20. Talk about hijacking my thread... Nah, I've got what I need, ladylene you and michael.qian can take over if you like I am planning on getting clownloaches for my tank I have at home, its five foot... For the 90L i'll stick to the gourmais and go and decide on the other fish everyone mentioned here. I do think clown loaches are awesome, but not suitable for the small tank in the long run, appreciate the thought though Will definately be getting some!!!
  21. Thanks for the help guys, water parameters are pretty neutral, temp 26 degrees (could change this). I love the tiger barbs as they come to you when you go by the tank instead of swimming and hiding. Have a bristlenose but will definately be getting more.
  22. Hi guys, I hire a tank out to my dads office and he has told me that he wants reasonable sized fish he can see :-? I am now wondering what to put in that is reasonable in price and lively so they don't hide when someone comes in, the tank is 90L and I will be keeping two pearl gouramis in there. What are your recommendations for lively and reasonably sized cheapish fish compatible with gouramis (preferably with some colour) Love the red tiger barbs and some websites said they do go with gouramis but I just can't see it. What do you guys think?? Thanks for your help
  23. I'd try another spoon or so of epsom salts, don't know of any other method sorry. Caryl or fishboi might know of something else to do.
  24. Thanks for all the advice, might try vinegar or something then, it is for a tank cleaning job that has been passed to me. The watermark is reasonably clear but still noticeable if you know what I mean... Thanks again for the advice
  25. Does anyone have any suggestions to remove those watermarks that dry up on tank glass? Some can be removed quite easily but soem seem to be there for good, is there anything that can be done? :-? Thanks.
