  1. The hook over pieces weren't wide enough to go over our 100mm bracing.. we had to alter the hang overs. That was the one pain in the butt thing we had to deal with. And yeap ya can fit more media in, but no filter that we are aware of comes jam packed to the brim with filter media.. We haven't had any kinks in our hosing infact its very thick and tough.. The smaller stuff does kink in the CF range, but the Aquis is real hard to kink, that's what we have found.. The acrylic hangovers are a bit of a pain in the butt but definately manageable..
  2. Welcome to the forums, you will love it here

    Disaster

So sorry that happened Malawiman.. there are no heaters on the market (or here anyway) that have a "fail safe" system unfortunately You can make your own.. using a thermostatically controlled switch, however, I guess it is too late for that now
  4. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh *DROOL*
  5. Awesome Rogan Don't worry I have a slight algae type pest to in my planted tank    Are you going to breed your pygmys??!!!
  6. Hiya Scuba Sam Seen you floating around the forum Sounds like you are getting hooked again!
  7. Full media is included also..
  8. We have the model up from that... (2400) and they are brilliant!!! Different intakes and outake piping as in size etc than the CF's, the intake has a surface skimmer on it aswell. The tubing is around 30mm thick, monster, big tubing.
  9. Can definately be a sign of spawning behaviour, as you know they will sift through the stones (as Geos do) but making a pit as such is certainly a sign Hope so!
  10.  shadowfax, I can only imagine the effort
  11. Oh neat Penejane, looking forward to the update
  12. Oh I was more so a bit taken back with the naughty teaching method of a red tail shark   that was all
  13. You what.. you put your fish in 5 second time out.. and he learnt from it?
  14. I would certainly look at parting with the Hatchets if you want to keep a lid off the tank, they are pretty good at spotting little insects and moths flying above and it's all over rover
  15. This was a dilemma that we had to  We have two huge Aqua Ones running on our 8fter, and we were determined that we were going to make it work.. they come with the solid plastic U Bends.. so we had to cut them and alter them and silicon came very much in handy that day   Works like a dream tho, but oh the soft bendy bits would have been so much more easier :-?
  16. The tank is looking great and can only get better! Awesome 8) And definately what Billaney and Blue have said is a definate.. There was a guy who opened a pet store down here (no longer open) he ordered in a heap of hatchet fish... he put them in the tank with no top and they pinged out like pop corn.. really sad.. he lost over 20 And they weren't the cheaper variety either, so it was an expensive mistake. And not to mention the poor fish only doing what was natural :-?
  17. Hi There We have kept both, and both have been easy, we just keep the freshwaters now, recently shut down our Brackish Tank to make some room. Cons about Brackish would be having to go and get the salt water   Oh and plants.. bit limited with Brackish....however, we were able to keep a bit of macro algae in our Brackish set up... I am sure there are a couple of freshwater plants that can handle Brackish, however, can't recall what they are.. someone else might have an idea? Our Brackish tank was 50/50 saltwater/freshwater... Overall it was the same care really.. only ones Fresh and one Brackish
  18.  My lip is zipped
  19. Awwwww, your first ever bred AFRICAN Rogan Congrats! :bounce: And aren't they just gorgeous
  20. Out breeding everything else!!  Even make my Johanni look rather slow on the breeding side of things... I have recently had a large Demasoni female (first timer) spit 12 fantastic size fry.. then I eventually put her back in the colony.. only to turn the lights on the next morning to find another smaller first timer holding and today I notice that I have 3 holding in total.... They have certainly been busy.. no tv by the sounds Mekhaela
  21. Nice to meet you L, and you will just love your stay here Would love to see some pics of your Asian tank when completed Mekhaela
  22. You should get a warranty on your Jager lorenceo.. My hubby informs me that there is a lengthy warranty on Jager products.
  23. We have used 4 types.. One piddly thin little supposed heater called Scuba, and I won't go there, one word describes them *terrible!* :lol Aqua One - Have them and have had no problems at all. Jebo - Definately a bit dodgy, not a fan. Jager - Our favourites, pricey but you get what you pay for Now we just stick to Jager mostly and have Aqua One for our little holding and breeding tanks.
  24. We have both, and have used Jebo for a long time now, and Aqua One.. I would say Aqua One for sure over Jebo (JMO) Aqua One stockists recently had a big sale on AO filters, possibly why its cheaper anyway... We have just added to our lot of externals, 2 x 2400 Aqua Ones, huge pump on the top, so easy starting and they just honk, love them!
