  1. Sounds like its the air to pump, is the chamber full of a tornado like swirl of micro bubbles and water? The skimmer works mint cause I had it on my rock cureing tank, so it must be a small but easy to do set-up problem. Is your water level up near the top of your tank? and did you take the top off the venturi cap? Is the air line from the venturi cap attached to the skimmers pump? If you cant sus it I'll come down unless there is someone near buy that can help??
  2. I did scrub it clean so it will need to settle back in. How many hours have you had it running? It took me a half day of empting full cups for it to settle.
  3. Mate I had that skimmer going the day before I sent it :-? Maybe I need to do a road trip to set it up for you  Do you have the venturi cap closed? Take the cap off completely untill it settles. Think I have the box under the house I'll go have a look and send you the manual. Dont downgrade the pump!! I was going to put a gruntier pump on it. I think the problem is with the air flow to the pump, check its not blocked and is plumbed right. Txt me if you need to 021 122 9401

    Noisey Ballast

stink one its only a year old! Is it still ok to use for a bit or is it a hazard?
  6. Gidday my 400 watt ballast is humming like crazy and vibrating against the floor so much that I turned it off cause it was driving us nuts. Anyone know what it could be ? I checked the wireing and its sweet aswell as the fuse ect but it wont stop!! I've swapped it with my other one I have aside for my upgrade but still need to fix the noisey one so I have two when I set up the new tank. Any ideas??
  7. My hydrometre read 1.023 and the true SG was 1.031, have got a refracto now & no probs. Maybe you should have added freashwater instead of NSW?
  8. Yea you can move the collection cup up the main chamber untill it settles down, but make sure it it gets into its proper spot asap before any spills happen
  9. I found the skimmer worked best once settled with the water one third up the cone part.
  10. Pm'd you, I cleaned it out so it needs to slime back up. Took me a good day to get it settled. Probably filled the cup a half doz times. Have you read up on any books, they usually cover skimmers ect. Make sure the airline is fully open, even take the screw top off the air inlet to allow max air input.
  11. Drip Kalk over night, spose to be good for ph a night.
  12. My cleaner shrimp hunts out young bristle worms  funny to watch, he sticks a pincher deep into a rock and pulls inch long worms out.
  13. No good bro, I'm pretty sure the LTA I got off petplanet was guilty of eating a sick adult size sailfin tang Glad the LTA and my new BTA are pretty mallow now 8)
  14. That skimmer would only just do the job for the 2 foota with a light fish load, untill you got a good skimma. Wouldn't put it on any thing bigger..... not worth it. Its there if you want it & it does pull a good amount of crap for a cheapie
  15. I've got a little Jebo HOB skimmer sitting in the shed you can have for 30 bucks. Better than nothing and will help with flow. I'd suggest saving up and doing it right first time.
  16. I think it may have came with the 1st cleaner I got that died, got it from a LFS in Albany, which was my 1st (and only) purchase from there, since then all down hill. Got a 2nd cleaner else where and he's the one trying to clean them all up just before they die :-? I think the worst thing about marine fish keeping is trying to diagnose problems, I feel guilty that I cant figure it out. I have my female clown, bangaii and YTD left and the deaths were both new and existing fish. Mate she's a tricky one to solve
  17. I've got a temp controller and my temp only shifts by less than 1 deg. Only cleaning near by is the kitchen (2-3 metres away) and we dont use any sprays. I was guessing parasites cause of the way they hang around the shrimp who cleans them at any chance.
  18. Cool my mates a vet. As for the other symptoms..... nothing, they just hung around the c.shrimp heaps then a day or two later they're on there side and die. Clown, sailfin tang, lawnmower blenny and now my yellow longnose butterfly is lookin sad and thats gunna gut me if he goes the same way The clown actually had a bloated gut :-? but he was a bad over eater? its hard to tell but there is something real wrong
  19. Could it possibly be external parasites ? There is nothing visible and they are dieing in perfect two week intervals. Real wierd :-?
  20. Cheers TM where do I get Levamisole??
  21. Believe I have a problem here! Think they came in on a shrimp that came from a LFS. Four deaths in 6-8 weeks Yes water quality is good, no changes to tank. So I'm gunna guess parasites :-? each of the dead fish bugged the cleaner shrimp before dieing days later. How can I treat it ? every suggestion welcome. thanks Mods please give it a day or two before you move it
  22. I believe you can use Drain'o, with a needle.
  23. I run fans on a temp controller and it works mint, and we keep our place real toastie. I had the fan disconected to modify my hood for a day and sure enough the temp came up.
  24. sounds like you guys need to slide a bit of doubled up camera film into your power box to slow down the metre wheel
