  1. Obviously he did not pay much attention to the fact that the Fun forum does not increment your post count?
  2. No, it is more fun watching youse embarrass yourselves, and takes the fun out of letting everyone guess I have only threatened one person on this site for calling me a 'Dude', but it was all in good fun!
  3. Be careful with these Tax thingies, some require that you appoint them as your tax agent with the IRD, and they will take a percentage of your refund, and all documentation that you receive from the IRD will go to them, and they may charge you a fee for handling that as well.
  4. Not much info, even in the recipe link, but you may find something suitable. http://www.seafoodindustry.co.nz/n1160,217.html Looks like it is a delicate textured fish.
  5. Hmm, don't know about the grass seed option, that would require opening the curtains?
  6. Hmmm, brings back memories of Vyvyan putting the hamster in the toaster on The Young Ones - 'brilliant!'
  7. Looks good Whetu! Now I wonder if I can just shift a couple of things around in my teenager's room and make it look good - naaahhhhh!
  8. mmmmmmmfffffff..........

  10. Keep chasing them chickens, Trumpetgear!
  11. YOUTH Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life. Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite, for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of sixty more than a body of twenty. Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust. Whether sixty or sixteen, there is in every human being's heart the lure of wonder, the unfailing child-like appetite of what's next, and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station; so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the Infinite, so long are you young. When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old, even at twenty, but as long as your aerials are up, to catch the waves of optimism, there is hope you may die young at eighty. Samuel Ullman 1840-1924
  12. So Rusty won't let you chase him as he runs around the floor clucking like a chook, then?
  13. What concerns me is - Trumpetgear is how old?
  14. Here is a chart that shows a C02/kH/pH table that I have used when my cylinder C02 was going - it's empty at the moment, and I will have to go and get it refilled. http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_co2chart.htm
  15. The brown/ginger algae is common in newly set up tanks, it goes away by itself over time.
  16. 86kph - what is it with this speed? I frequently end up stuck behind someone doing this speed in a 100k zone, then you get into a 70k zone, they still do 86k, so unless you want to do the same speed as they are in the 70k zone, they get ahead of you and you by the time you catch up to them there is heaps of oncoming traffic again. Then you hit the 50k zone, and whilst they slow down a little bit, they are still not doing 50k.... GRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrr.....
  17. The plant on the left is Anubias barteri var. nana Quite slow growing and mine usually end up covered in algae, either the green spot or the hairy one that you can't scrape off without damaging the leaves.
  18. During the winter she can stay in there all day, go have something to eat, go back in the evening. She will turn up on our bed after the lights have been off for about an hour because it is getting cold! Hopefully the val will block some of the light at the back of the tank if the normani don't like the 70w Metal Halide.
  19. Filling up - sorry, not intermediate shots of me trying to arrange the plants, wet paws and cameras do not mix... Full tank front shot Close up The Building Inspector happy now that her bed is back up and on top of the nice warm light - averages 28deg in there. No fish yet, will let it settle temp wise first.
  20. Oh Ira, you are sooooo mean!
  21. Do you pop your emails, or read them from the YahooXtra webmail interface? I have just sent myself an email via Thunderbird, and it poped into my Thunderbird mailbox, but has not shown in the Yahoo!xtra one yet.
  22. When I first started keeping fish, which wasn't that long ago - about three years, I used to fastidiously test the water in my new tank, move around the room to try and get the right light so that I could get the colours to match on the cards with what was in the vials, sometimes more than once a week. Stress over a reading that didn't seem right, or some colour that I couldn't match. I used the API kit that came in a set. Then I got into marines, and the more expensive Salifert kits that would test one's patience as well as the water, some had three or four reagents to be added in weird little spoons or syringes at specific time intervals after constant swirling in the vial, then count the drops and wait for a colour change... Arrgghhh.... Now I rarely break the kits out unless the fish, plants or inverts don't look happy, probably not what you want to hear? Most Killiefish keepers are changing so much water in their tanks constantly that testing would probably be a waste of time and money.
  23. Wednesday 15th July 7.30pm At The National Aquarium of New Zealand Marine Parade, NAPIER This month we have a Quiz Night - this is going to be a little different to our usual quizzes, so you will have to come along to see what it is, it promises to be a fun night. See if you can win yourself a chocolate fish! We will also be having an auction, so bring along any fish, plants or aquarium paraphernalia that you wish to sell. All welcome, tea and bikkies provided.
  24. My least favourite part of tank setup - arranging the driftwood, this way? That way? Arrgh, I give up... The bit of perspex it to go into the substrate to divide the tank in an effort not to let the Val take over the whole tank. Top view with perspex in the substrate Filling the tank from the sump with the Fluval 104, plastic bag is to stop the water digging the substrate up.
