Hi, I would just use flourish for trace elements, KNO3 for nitrates, KH2PO4 for phosphate and K2SO4 for pottasium if you need it. That is what i am going to start dosing soon. The best place to get the chemicals from is probably http://www.hydroponics.co.nz You could make pmdd or get it made for you but IMO the easier method is to do what i am going to do. Theres heaps of info here and here but you need to register to view the second one. On the second one it has lots of info about the EI method which is pretty much what i am doing Good luck

Oh yea, that is one true sentance. I havent got my Metal Halide going yet but i have personally seen many tanks with them and.......... I have mine sitting in my room shouting at me to turn it on!!! (i need to get rid of the green water first, thats only with a double tuber!!!) I have bought lights and a MH. I get awesome growth in my little 20L tank with just a 4 year old 11W PL tube, i also get good growth over my 60L community with a couple 15W tubes and i get good growth over my 240L planted tank with only a 76 W double tuber (soon to be 76W AND 150W MH 8) ) Rogan

My stargrass is growing hard in a 240L tank ATM. it only has 70 W of light on it for now. I believe the secret is co2. Get another tube or two and setup a DIY co2 unit if you are realy keen on your plants

You dont NEED an air pump with any fish.... Just use a small internal filter or IMO, even better, a small HOB filter, A 50W heater and chuck a few cool fish in there. As long as you have water movement you will not actually NEED an air pump at all. IMO a siamese fighter would be wicked in that size tank. One nice male and a few dither fish. P.S. The sound of fish tanks is what puts me to sleep, i cant imagine not having 60 decibels of air pump noise in my bedroom... ugh

They look wicked tammy Just one thing though, IMO, the white gravel washes the colours out.(says he with white gravel in one of his tanks ) Dark/Black gravel shows the colours up much better. Just something to think about, not saying yours looks dumb or anything, keep up the good effort. I bought a light bluey/purply male fighter and a same colour female fighter on the weekend. They both have no visible Red's in them, the female is just like the one Luke posted a pic of on the first page, the Male being the same but much nicer with the long fins and more purply and darker blues aswel. I also bought them a breeding tank, made a sponge filter and used a spare heater. Heres hoping for baby bettas in a couple weeks.... Luke, you said earlier that blue is recessive to reds, with a blue male and a blue female will there still be some red babys from the genes possibly from their parents etc...?? I will try get some pics up once i get a couple good ones. Rogan
