  3. Apparently it's not called a Caramel Chocolate Marble Cake  That's just what I've called it since I was little and the family just let me carry on doing so. It's called a Caramel Cake and it's my absolute favourite. The recipe is pretty old and uses old school measurements. It goes like this; 1/4 lb Butter (115gms) 1 teacup sugar 1 egg. Cream butter & sugar, add beaten egg. Heat 1 cup of milk and 1 tablespoon of Golden Syrup. Lastly add 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Add this to the mixture, sift in 1&1/2 cups of flour. 1 teaspoon of baking powder, salt. Add vanilla essence. Pour half the mixture into cake tin. Sprinkle with chopped dates or sultanas. Add 1 tablespoon of cocoa to the remaining mixture and pour on top. Bake in moderate oven, 350 F, 180 C for 1/2 hour. Mum uses sultanas and I ask for plenty of them. Cover the cake in thick chocolate icing. A1 delicious :bounce: I want one NOW!! I wonder what Mums doing?? ( Reaches for 'phone)

I love the stuff and my Mum still makes it for me for my birthday....... along with a Caramel Chocolate marble cake Ingredients 1½ cups self rising flour 2 tblsp cocoa 100 grams butter ½ cup sugar 1 cup milk 1 egg, beaten 1 tsp vanilla essence Sauce 2 tblsp cocoa ½ cup sugar 2 cups boiling water Method 1. Sift flour and cocoa into a bowl. Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in the sugar and make a well in the centre. 2. Beat the egg, milk and vanilla essence together and mix into the dry ingredients to form a stiff mixture. Put the mixture into a greased dish. 3. Mix the sauce ingredients together and pour over the batter. 4. Bake at 180ºC for around 45 minutes. 5.Serve hot with heaps of whipped cream and/or Vanilla ice cream :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

  11. Hi. I've copied and pasted this from the link in my post above...."The Siamese Algae Eater, (Crossocheilus siamensis) is an active and fast swimmer, which thrives best in schools but can also be kept alone or in pairs." I have a 7-8cm one going solo in my 200 litre planted tank. He/she seems just fine on its own. HTH
  12. Siamese Algae Eater, Crossocheilus siamensis. But be warned...I have heard that they get stroppy when big. http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_sae.php

  15. Yeah. There always seems to be one or two Cobalts that are tenacious enough to make it but never a Peacock fry I had too many Cobalt fry so I now let the female release in the main tank and I still have too many Cobalt fry
  16. Hi all. I thought I'd post this just for a little fun.... Not in focus, but zoomed in on a Cobalt fry in my 450 litre.... Zoomed out on the same fish.... Wish it luck
  17. Yeah. There're some recipes around that also have gelatine in them to hold it together. I did a quick Google....this is just one of many, http://www.aquariumlife.net/projects/di ... od/112.asp Here's the rest  http://www.google.co.nz/search?sourceid ... +fish+food
  18. Gutted. So sorry to hear this I remember the pic. It made me want one.
  19. This is Jess. I got her from Dogwatch a little over a year ago. Not long after I got her, when she was still nameless, she took off after a cat and without thinking I yelled 'Jess come' and she obeyed immediately so it's stuck. Apparently Jess is the most common name for female dogs.
  20. Navarre has helped me in the past too.... :bounce: He's good people
  21. It's the same with my test kit.

    worms????

I've posted about worms before. I found some in some filter media. They turned out to be harmless. I can't know if they're the same worm or not but I wouldn't be overly concerned.
