  1. That's really well done. Thanks for posting
  2. Hello Caper, long time no post. I hope all is well and that you're still keeping fish
  3. Hi. New pots are fine, I put them straight in the tank. Used pots may have fertilisers soaked into them so are best soaked in a bucket for a couple of days with frequent water changes. Many people use them as breeding caves. Bristlenoses love them as do cave spawning Cichlids like Apistogrammas.
  4. Ouch, courtesy hurts How does it feel today? I hope you and your fellow rollee get well soon, the wildlife of NZ need you.

    The What's Up? thread.

In all my years of fish keeping I have never overfilled a tank during a water change......until today

    The What's Up? thread.

I'm going to make it rain today........by washing the car. If Native Americans had cars they wouldn't have needed rain dances.
  7. Yeah, it worked well. It sounds like I had the same problems as you. Once I got the tumble right it was fine.
  8. Good work. I made one a while back and found I could easily adjust the tumble by shifting the airstone up or down inside the tube.
  9. There's nothing wrong with a pH of 6.6. Gourami prefer slightly acid water.
  10. Indeed they are. I recently got told of a retail store that was losing custom to on-line shopping so they set up a website and now the on-line sales count for 60% of their turnover.
  11. The bubble blowing sounds like odd behavior. What do your water tests show?
  12. Or don't put any food in for a couple of days. Put in a DIY fishtrap overnight. He won't starve himself and should eventually go for the food in the trap. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/fish_trap.php
  13. I had one too. I bet Andrea would love to get it back.

    joke

Here's another in the same theme.... An old dog starts chasing rabbits and before long, discovers that he’s lost. Wandering about, he notices a panther heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch. The old dog thinks, “Oh, oh! I’m in big trouble now!” Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the panther is about to leap, the old dog exclaims loudly, “Boy, that was one delicious panther! I wonder, if there are any more around here?” Hearing this, the young panther halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees. “Whew!,” says the panther, “That was close! That old dog nearly had me!” Meanwhile, a squirrel who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the panther. So, off he goes. The squirrel soon catches up with the panther, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the panther. The young panther is furious at being made a fool of and says, “Here, squirrel, hop on my back and see what’s going to happen to that conniving canine!” Now, the old dog sees the panther coming with the squirrel on his back and thinks, “What am I going to do now?,” but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn’t seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old dog says… “Where’s that squirrel? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another panther!” Moral of this story… Don’t mess with the old dogs… Age and skill will always overcome youth and treachery!
  18. !drool: Just beautiful. This kind of thread makes me want to try marine. Please don't encourage me
  19. Thank you. Ferts+Light+Co2=Fast growth. The amount of greenery that comes out of this tank is crazy.
  20. A mate of mine did it once and yeah, water changes fixed it up. No harm done at all.
