  1. Nice fish, I agree with everyone else they look perfectly at home in that tank, well done it looks awesome... I look forward to updated pics as they grow! Only issue I can see is if there is any serious aggression as they start breeding there aren't many places for bullied fish to hide, but you can only play it by ear as they grow and see what is needed.
  2. Prazi wont work for camalnaus, every time I have tried to buy it in liquid form (adtape) it has been very expensive at vets over $100 a L from memory but it has been a long time since I tried.. I have some arrest C at home and haven't had much luck with any fish living after being treated with it, what dosage rate do you use Burn? I believe the picture of the fish that you have put up isn't look too good already, I can't even identify what type it is it almost looks like it has been drawn on paint.. But the fish can survive ater being badly affected, usually when it gets as bad as pictured it is usual to expect some sort of long lasting damage to the internal organs of the fish as it is usually totally filled with worms by then.
  3. BAH!! Run and hide its horrible.. It is called camalnaus and is a horrible worm, it will be affected all your fish and all your tanks even if it hasn't got bad enough to show on all of them.. The good thing is that it can be treated, buy some aviverm (levamisole HCL - birdwormer) from anywhere that sells bird stuff or even offline. And read this http://www.loaches.com/Members/shari2/levamisole-hydrochloride-1 Make sure you follow all the instructions regarding the dosage (1ml/115L) and water change/treatment regime the levamisole will only kill the worms and not the eggs.
  4. +1 I used to breed my Jullie malieri in a 2ft tank.. Inspiration for your shellie tank.. http://www.google.co.nz/search?tbm=isch&hl=en&source=hp&biw=1366&bih=621&q=shellie+tank&gbv=2&oq=shellie+tank&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=1240l2323l0l2496l12l7l0l0l0l0l206l622l1.3.1l5l0
  5. lol definitely not, it is a peacock of some sort does look to be a red shoulder
  6. My thoughts exactly rip all the fish out and treat the tanks with copper to get rid of the little buggers..
  7. As everyone has suggested they need time to realise it is food, most of our fish are mass bred in asia and just feed on commercially available foods so have no idea what live food is. You could push all the gravel back from one corner or portion of your tank and feed the worms there on the bottom glass so they sit there and wiggle around encouraging the fish to eat them.
  8. Tank is probably too small for a harem of all of the above and not all of them are harem spawners, when the first pair breed the 3rd female will be given a hiding and there wont be much space for it to hide in. Rams would be a good one, however they are harder to keep and prone to just dropping dead for no apparent reason and the fry are hard to raise..

  10. Stainless mesh won't rust.. However it is very expensive so plastic probably works out better..
  11. Herefishyfishy lives in Aussie where you can get acei, also that thread was in 2007..
  12. No not readily avaliable that I am aware of.. Haven't heard or seen any pure acei in nz before seen a few people with random zebras they did a google I'd on using that name.. Make bumblebees (ps. crabro) are a similar colour to that fish though..
  13. Sorry to hear about ur fish and what snails were u targeting?
  14. Looking good, nice gold heads on those gold heads (as corny as that sounds).. And loving the ornatus (or is that auratus - Jackp?).
  15. What is the temp? Either way water changes are your friend do them multiple times a day 25% at a time (more if you can do some reasonably matched water..

    baby CUCKOOS

If the rusties are working keep using them.. Empresses can be painful and they can take a while to mature and females to hold successfully.
  17. I agree and yeah the 5ft tank is a good size for those fish that you have.. I also have a few random bits and bobs I could give/lend to you to see how they go, more fish mean more targets means less aggression and more chance of it working long term...
  18. You could breed all sorts in it but there aren't many you won't need a separate tank to raise fry in.. Things like live bearers or bristlenoses will just tick along and breed well.
  19. Sounds like some information on this baytril would be good to have so it is probably best posted rather than in private.. Also if there are any credible links that can be printed and taken to vets with info on how to treat fish with it and what it is effective against that can help.. Not many vets will just prescribe something just because you ask for it.
  20. If it fits into their mouths it can be food.. I would be worried about the Afra and probably not add them until they are a good 3cm min.
  21. I feed my fish 7 days and nights a week Usually at least 2 but sometimes 3-4 times a day.
