  1. lol I think you children need to settle down Sorry yeah a shop should be able to get a aro in, go and see Ben see what he can do..
  2. A petshop would get one in but I would probably contact peter in Welly and get one made if I was in the market for a tank...

    Hi all

I send fish and it works out well for me haven't had any major losses however it can be very time consuming and stressful on the senders side especially..

    Danios

I think they're basic egg layers, seperate the sexes fatten them up, they like to swim a bit so maybe 45-60cm tank have marbles or a spawning net over the bottom to protect the egg's.. They will lay 100's of eggs babies eat microscopic food easy as..
  5. Without knowing exactly what fish you have in your tank you could have problems.. Alot of african cichlids can cross breed and produce hybrids (these are usually destroyed because they are bad for the hobby and everyone in general really). So yeah if you could get some id's on your fish and a stocking list we can let you know what it is likely to have happened, where did you get your fish from and what did you buy them as? The female will loose all maternal instinct as will the male as soon as the babies are out some holding females that spit naturally will still take babies into their mouths but I don't trust them with their own babies..
  6. I had a pair of cockatoo's and a pair of rams in that sized tank they seemed to sort it out and have half the tank each when spawning..
  7. Ok then well I have on idea I think I can see chilumba from the pic you sent but its so hard to id them, it depends what you brought it as.. My chilumba have like a bump inbetween their eyes its the shape of their head kinda weird..
  8. Could be a chilumba/royal blue.. But thats all it could be with a peacock that was brought without a name, I have some here that are like that too I have no idea what they are.. But the fish it most resembles is chilumba does it have a little lump sort of between its eye's?
  9. Depends what it is.. If its unidentified (or like your one which you thought was a kadango) its probably not worth much.. But if its a pure peacock could retail for 20-60 but on trademe maybe $20-30 for a big male but depends if you can find someone looking for one..
  10. I would probably fix the bracing first.. However the shelf will add some strength.. Why is the tank some 9 and some 10mm glass.. Did you still need Steph to bring the poly over tomorrow?
  11. All sounds good What size is your tank and what fish are in it?
  12. I have white worms if you want some
  13. Yeah people have worm farms theres someone on here called wormalicoius or something like that they seem to be worm guru's..
  14. I don't know about palmy water, Bulls water is fine though! I do know that there have been some crapy livebearers coming in off the wholesale list though, and one person in a store recently said he wouldn't buy any livebearers off the list because they were all dying so might be some indication.. If you want descent guppies pm Jewelz on here shes awesome and has some lovely neon blue guppies she will help you out with im sure, and someone sells snakeskins on trademe. Good luck and if your calling through Bulls and want to say hi see some africans let me know
  15. Firstly you should post this in the cichlid section.. Secondly you should tell us how big your tank is and what fish you have in it so we can try and figure out who did the killing? Was the fish healthy before it died... Electric yellow's generally aren't that aggressive even when breeding I mean they will chase other fish off, if it was a male electric yellow he may have wasted it but they usually have somewhere to hide. As for the babies are they free swimming yet? I just feed mine on decapsulated brine shrimp, microworms, crushed flake and whatever will fit in their mouths they're not fussy and are quite big as far as fry go. If you do decide to divide your 5ft good luck making dividers that the fry wont get through I have had limited success doing this and have lost a few fry even using the hose around the edge technique.. Also congratulations and good luck let us know how you get on..
  16. You could even separate them feed them up and reintroduce them.

    new tank

Yeah you will have to watch them and the overflow, can you block it off with filter will for a while until they grow a bit? Do you have some sort of mesh or anything over the hole? Make sure you take out any uneaten food and don't overfeed as they are only small and you can fowl your tank quite easily especially as its still cycling..

    new tank

You setup a container with some bread and yeast at the bottom I use the deli containers you get coleslaw and all that stuff in, wet the bread and stick the microworms in there, they will multiply and when they are ready to be fed out you will notice them up the sides of the container you can scrape them off with your filter and wash them into the tank.. I dont think the admin would ever setup a profiles section on here it would take alot of time/resources not really worth it when there are plenty of others already setup.. The one I mainly use is http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/
  19. Typical story something cool comes in and someone buys them all they disappear somewhere and the person breeds them only sells them wholesale or privately really expensive to keep the price up

    new tank

I actually realized about the microworms when I sent the fish to you I meant to stick a culture in there, if you give me your address ill send you some

    new tank

I feed alot of microworms they're an easy to culture livefood thats really small.. I would stay away from bloodworms they're bad for fish I never feed them and they have been linked to bloat in africans shrimp is fine I use it in my frozen food and also sometimes chuck whole ones in the tank for a laugh.. Search for decapsulated brineshrimp you should find them on trademe, you wont need stuff all of them maybe 50gm's that would last you ages and ages and once they get bigger they wont eat it, but would come in handy when they grow up and breed.. Hopefully its avaliable in smaller quantities have been meaning to buy one and split it up because I cant even use id say it would last years.

    new tank

The home made food is really good, as are cooked mashed up pea's they will do really well with the cichlid spirilina sticks.. Also decap brine shrimp which you can find reasonably off trademe, even live brineshrimp if you can be bothered hatching it.. Did you want some microworms?
