they are one of the hardest and most annoying fish to breed...i've been breeding/trying to breed for awhile now, i've been though 3 pairs and i still cant get it 100% in my humble opinion i would give up, they are just so annoying to breed but if you want more info try reading on this forum http://forum.simplydiscus.com/

i breed discus but nothing for sale yet, i also know another person that breeds in chch but he has nothing at the moment too best is to check trademe, they sometimes has discus for sale in chch. Other wise just get them shipped down from up north

Can i put Discus with Angels and Arowana?

like sharn said i have discus with my arowana i had a group of 12 discus about 4-5cm in a 3ft tank, then added a 15-20cm arowana this setup only lasted 1 month before the tank was too small, so i upgraded to a 6x3x2 tank...now the arowana is about 35-40cm and a group of about 15 discus from 4cm to 10+cm i think its all down to how the arowana is brought up and you need a large group of discus for it to work -
the fish are bagged in the mornings and get put back into the tanks at night, i've seen them do it...they also do it for plants too i think they are better off in the bag, you should see how many fish they can fit into a small tank you can buy all types of fish pre-bagged, arowana, royal knife,discus,giant gouramis,red tail catfish...etc i remember seeing 100neons for $18hk which is about $3.60nz all bagged ready to go

hey all, i'm in hong kong at the moment and DAMN you guys should see the asian arowanas here i wish i could take photos but all the shops wont allow pictures as for prices 15cm silver about $15nz 15cm jardini about $40nz 20cm asian chilli red about $1000nz full grown asian $3,500+nz alot of the fully grown asain dont even have prices on the tank, its what you are willing to pay

what type of arowana do you have? i have a silver which i got about 4months ago, he/she has grown from 20cm to about 35cm now now i want a asian arowana for my 5ft, anyone know around what price they are and how hard they are to get?

never had glowlights but my lemon tetra seems to last a pretty long time

most places in chch can get them but i think redwood has some in stock last time i was there about 3 months ago i also was about to order one in but the owner of a unnamed LFS told me not to get it, as they are over priced and he guarantees me that i would not be happy with it i end up going to master trade and made up my own light
