update..... well sad news for both of the baby aros. One got eaten by 25 the BIG aro (silly me being impatient and put him in to early) and the second one jumped out hit the light and died from injures for the good news thanks to milet for informing me about the clown knifes at animates i bought two and added them to the tank also so sadden with the lost of both my baby aros i went and ordered another two from my favorite shop organism....i've have bought 5 arowana from them hahahaha they are currently in my over crowed over planted 5ft until they are big enough to play with 25 yeah david we should check out some fishes when you are down again....damn, no one told me SIMM is feb 08...bring down your EG

have you try ox heart and blood worms? the ones i got the other day seem to eat it

both fire eel and tyre track eel are cool but remember they love to hide; i have both about 20cm+ and they both dont come out, only my spiny peacock eel swims around the tank happily same goes for black ghost knife, i have two. one is about 15cm the other about 20cm both dont come out giant gourami!! i aways wanted one but dont have a tank for it, remember you need a HUGE tank.....was at redwood the other day and they had two different ones in stock clown loachs are only good in a school of 6 or more... pictus catfish, i never had one

i never see my black ghost knifes eat nor feed anything special for them but they both still grow at a very fast rate i've just got two clown knifes today and going to do the same thing, if they are hungry enough i'm sure they will eat whatever they find in the tank

royals are the ones with the line/spots and clown has the round spots? is that right?

oh i breed them and i just chuck them in to make the tank brighter looking they all been in for over 1 year now and i havent had any died from fighting, maybe a couple will might kill each other but once you have alot they will get on fine....i have another 50+ to go in soon :lol:

they are ok size at the moment, i like all my tanks to be overstocked, fish are alot more friendly that way that tank already has 7 discus,3ballon kissing gouramis, 20+cory, 14+Siamese fighters,12+bristlenoses :lol:

thanks Milet, you got the PM about where i got the sand/driftwood since i'm posting i might as well give a update the 20+ discus are all doing fine in the tank. I have 4 pairs started spawning in the tank, i took out two pairs and put them into another tank and i have no more room for the other two pair so they are just going to stay in that tank 'eely' the fire eel is super FAT and still growing by the day, i'm guessing he is about 30cm now. I also picked up some new friends for him a Tyre Track eel and a Spiny peacock eel both growing like crazy '25' the arowana is doing great, still growing but not as fast now '25' will have some new friends joining him in that tank soon, i picked up these two about 3 weeks ago now, here is a pic of them still in the bag...they were just finishing off there egg sacks when i got them. other new edition to the tank are 2 black ghost knifes, chocolate catfish

i got one of my ones for $390 on trademe brand new with extra sponge set...you just have to shop around they are a add on media, about $10

i have two of them, they dont come with media, so i bought some of the ehiem ball media havent had any trouble with both of them, only thing i found is that the polishing pads they make for them gets clogged very quickly and it makes the output very slow

they are the most aggressive aro in the family, also they are the smallest in the family too

you cant import them anymore? redwood in chch just had some imported, not sure if there is any left

the Shack and Vac doesnt work that well shampoo or rug doctor is the way to go

just buy a culture...but make sure you open and see if the worms are still alive when you buy it

ok maybe not give up but after sooooo many spawns, you feel its just not worth the trouble and cost i have had egg eaters, fertilizing problems,fry problems, 2-3 old babies dying ...i just got another pair spawning the other night and they just ate the eggs the next day, out of 4 pairs only 1 pair has gotten it right :roll:
