  1. I too used to be envious of people that owned Discus k1w1y2k:lol: I found an old post of mine from way back in 2005, saying how much I would love to have Discus oneday, Discusguru replied, "They're not that hard to keep Lynda, you really should give them a go", and to think it's now 2009 and I have finally got the Discus I sooooo longed for. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  2. Have to agree with you Alan
  3. Yup, leave the fish in the tank no need to move them. I just leave for a couple of hours to settle down, then do a water change.
  4. Even using a Net Breeder, Mum will sometimes eat her babies  I found the plastic Breeding Tank the better one has slots in the bottom of the little tank for the babies to fall through, have less chance of them being eaten that way
  5. I'm travelling down there today to pick up fish from Modern Angl, for Myself, Bilbo and phoenix44 I'm not from Palmy, I'm in Levin, will be heading upto Palmy on Monday with phoenix's fish.
  6. I totally agree with you lmsmith, I work in retail and the Service I give MY customers is no different if I work for someone else who owns the business or if I work for my own business, ( Hope I haven't confused you there lol) My husband and I own 2 business here in Levin, and we have just brought the Business that I was working at in Town As far as I'm concerned the service that we as Customers get these days is CRAP, which in turn doesn't help the people who actually own the business, ge a good name out there. I would have to say Supermarkets and certain Petshops would be the worse. I'm paying hard earned money for what ever goods or services I require and I expect to get good service to go with it. Pretty sad really
  7. Snakeskin and Rose Red I think I'm thinking the Stripey one out on his own is the Blue Turk I'm hoping Ron will correct me if I'm wrong :-?
  8. Thanks Ryan Have to say I'm thrilled to bits with them :bounce: :bounce: Ron certainly knows his stuff, Beautiful Quality Discus
  9. Yes, you can have Clowns and Angels together I've had then together for years with no problems :bounce: :bounce: I would advise you have your Clown in a group of 6 or more, they are at there happiest when they are in a group of that size.
  10. What sort of Fish was it BnB? I'm flying back to Welly easter weekend from Queenstown via Christchurch, pity you weren't wanting it picked up from CHCH to take to Welly, then I could have helped you out.
  11. Yes, that's a Hoplo Catfish, phoenix44 I have 2 Big Fellas in this Tank, was going to sell them to Helen on the forums, but dont have the heart to get rid of them
  12. Got my new Discus today :bounce: :bounce: Thanks heaps to Ron for supplying such fantastic quality Fish Thought I would post a pik of them in their New Tank You will have to excuse the reflections on the Tank did'nt think to close the Curtains   Will post a better Pik when I can get one.
  13. Have to be abit careful with Salt and Meds with Clowns Usually half the dose that it says to use.
  14. I'm heading down that way on Easter Weekend :-) Unforunately I'm flying direct from Wellington to Queenstown, would have helped you out if I could have. Good Luck
  15. This is sounding more like a fungus, think it is actually called Cotton Wool Fungus Neon Diease is completely different, your Neon will start to lose it's colour if it gets this diease, can be very contagious to other Neon's from what I have read. Need to treat the Cotton Wool Fungus with something like Wonder Tonic, available from your Pet Shop.
  16. No phoenix44, is wasn't in the place that you work I live in Levin not Palmerston North :bounce: :bounce: We only have one Pet Shop here, I wont name which one it is, not hard to guess when it's the only one in town :-? :-?
  17. Goodness me Ron, they're absolutely Stunning
  18. Have to say, I visited the Petshop here today to buy some BN's, said to the girl there, Goodness me you have alot of DEAD fish in this Tank, her reply to that was, they're not DEAD they're sleeping, so I asked her to put a net in the tank and prove to me they werent DEAD, Hmmm after her fishing out 4 DEAD Bn's and several other DEAD Fish, I came out and said I have to say your tanks arent looking to hot at the moment, dont think she was impressed at all. Dont no how they expect to sell Live Fish to customers when there Tanks look so disgusting
  19. Thanks for your help guys, it's very much appreciated May goodness me Ryan, I must have been having a Blonde moment, I'm sure I posted it in the Freshwater Section, hope the mods will kindly move it for me :-? :-? Have done a google search on the filter, didnt come up with much at all.
  20. Has anybody used one of these external filters before?? I'm thinking of buying one for my new Discus Tank Aquaone 980 about 220 Ltrs. To be honest, I dont know much about External Filters, I have always run an Under Gravel Filter or the Internal Pump Filter. Here's abit of info on the SUNSUN HW-303 1400 litres per hour 35 watts 3 Stage Multi Layer Filtration Built in 9 watt UV Sterilizer Complete with Filter media 2m max head height Separate on / off switch for UV Quality Fittings ( Taps, hoses & spray bar inc ) Quick Release taps Quiet and Extremely reliable 1 year Warranty Suitable for up to 500 litres I have been offered one of these for around $150, not sure if this is a good price or not?? Cant seem to find much on the net about them. Any help would be very much appreciated Lynda
  21. I had some Silk one's awhile back, It was amasing just how Real they looked, they even moved with the current of the water, and didn't seem to get the horrible algae growing on them either.
  22. Love the photo's of your Discus Vincent They are absolutely Gorgeous
  23. Would have to say the Black Shark would be my pick too They can be picky little buggars from time to time Lynda
