yeah i was keen on the LED as its light ripples from the surface current. looks cool. dont really get that from tubes.

cool was the first fresh food thay had in a week or so, dont usually give that much. it all went in about 5 minutes.

i am sure that last night, my clarkis clown was feeding its new long tentacle anemone. i fed some chopped up mussel, and the clown would grab large pieces and gun it straight back into the middle of the anemone. it would emerge about 1/2 a second later, empty mouthed, and do the same again. pretty sure the fish wasnt eating the pieces, as it would have been around half or more of his body mass in mussel meat. this was after the fish had eaten a few pieces itself, which it had no problem swallowing out in the open. anyone seen this happening before?

* have seen the ones available, icecap, etc, but looking for a more DIY solution

anyone have any experience / info on using LED on tank? i want to use led for moonlight, but want to plug it into the wall as opposed to running on batteries.

shall we just let reef post the results this time instead of snarking? just an idea....

cheers. does anyone have any experience using a fluidised sand filter on a freshwater tank? i have built one for marine, but may use it on freshwater tank........

hi freshies i have a 200l tank that is currently a reef tank. it has a sump / overflow set up at the moment. i plan to make this tank tropical freshwater / planted, as i am upgrading to a bigger reef tank. i am wondering if i would be better off running an overflow and having a sump, or using a canister filter (i have a via aqua 1200 at the mo). i am aware of noise / evaporation that occours with overflow / sump. anyone have an opinion on which filtration system to go with? also have a 13000k 150w MH light on this, which i will leave. i realise that this is the wrong bulb for plant growth, but presume that it will be fine, as it will be complimented with flouro tubes bought specifically for growth. i could swap the MH bulb with a 4000k one i have. which bulb would be better? 13k or 4k?
