day 3 on Pohls CV and very, very noticeable difference. big increase in extension

when running tests at low salinity how do i calculate the relative values? ie; Ca is 420 at 1.026. what would i expect at 1.020. is 1.026 30% saltier than 1.020?? :-?

my sump is covered and i lose 4.5lts a day from display. just put a DVS in...blinkin brilliant...solves all condensation and evaporation, unexpected bonus tho, it also managed to quiet a painfull whine i used to get in my left ear every morning in winter :lol:

750lts total, 2 x 300 wt heaters. set to 26 and varies 26- 29. new tank and not ideal. new v/large sump, temp controller, chiller and new heaters/ different layout coming soon. my thoughts would be to have some reliable cyclic temp varience but i'll do some research as to what happens in nature etc. (i also dont know much as its my first setup)

ive done a calculation but come up with 3 different results :-? ; 1: it will take 4 reefers to hold cracker down and force him to use the calculator 2: crackers tank looks pretty damn good 3: it actually may take 6 reefers to restrain him :lol:

cant seem to get the colour right, camera is just a sony w5 and hard to make it true colour which is real deep purple :-?

2 spots under the eye are w/s, back in the display now and heading down to 1.009 again...

thanks very much for the offer A. i may take you up on it but ive now decided to go hypo again but on the display. on thinking about it thru my answers to you, ive decided the purples bad state was prob the water parameters rather than the salinity. thanks for that has clarified things so we'll see.

purple tang has recovered really well but had to take them all out of hypo as tank too small and water fouling too quick. as a result they are in my sump and white spot reappearing . if i could make up my mind what caused him to tip over i could plan a course of treatment. he had a 'tip 'episode in the main tank where water is excellent. so was it the fluctating water quality in the hypo tank or the low salinity itself? :-? i'm tempted to consider 2 options; 1:remove corals and take whole display and sump to 1.009, loads of rock and 700lts to hopefully avoid water quality issues. 2: get a big isolation tank and go copper for 2 weeks. what do you reckon? i thought my live rock didnt work at 1.009 but prob the load too great and tank too small. weird the purple tipped over before all this, im learning something anyway.....what?? ive yet to decipher Wasp did you take alot of rock to 1.009, what size tank and over what period??

you could send it Courier Post and it would be split by the time it arrived 8)
