If they are well fed and show good growth from free swimming stage on they will breed from 18 mths old - from my experience. Babies do not do well in a community tank - they are best confined so that food can be kept up to them.

Hope this solves your problems but I would suggest that the solution is a second heater or at least a higher wattage heater for your tank. And / Or insulation. By turning the existing heater up the thermostat will rarely turn off indicating not enough wattage in the heating of your tank. Most fish will happily survive a period where temp is two degrees below normal.

Update - Gave up on the vodka. Cyano looks to be sorted now the horrid green snot. It turned out to be lack of lighting - 15 w on 100 litres - now 60w - Cyano melting into oblivion. I should have realised this was the cause earlier. I was deceived by the idea that only brown algae is an indicator of poor light. Only took 10 months of toiling in the slime to work that out. Least there was vodka I suppose :roll:

The Kribs would be ok in with the Africans but would most likely be under pressure from the Zebra and yellow aggression - especially because the Kribs will be the new kids on the block. Hope you can sort out some peace. It's not easy finding enough tanks for grouchy cichlids.

Kribs can be very territorial when breeding. Best bet if you don't want community troubles have only males or females in the community or put all your kribs in their own tank - however when a pair develops they will pick on their own kind mostly which takes the pressure of other community fish. Babies and juveniles of any species will probably not make it in with a breeding pair or any adult kribs - not their own babies though - they are great parents. Your africans would prefer harder water than what your kribs will like. They are great fun to have though and nice to look at.

Hey Matt My silver dollars used to love JBL Novo Plecochips and used to happily swim around with them sticking out of their gobs nibbling them until they were gone - The biggest pig could easily eat 5 in one sitting. They were handy to have for variety.

I say yes - just use the samllest squirt of silicone you can get away with.

Is there a possiblity of using excessive power when you can feel the tingling - I have had a spate of irregular power bills - 2 in the last 12 months at least $200 over normal. I can feel tingling occasionally and it is especially in my sump also.
