Ahem - Why would you do this - dont plants want to sleep as well when they respire normally and... well sleep - wouldn't this just keep them awake?? Maybe they're just buggered - When I havn't slept in a while I get a bit brown :evil: . Be interested to hear more tho - I'm no expert.

Calcite must be a brand name as it is lime stone is it not? What Ph does calcite hold and where do you get it mystic?

Do you have them in your 600 litre tank - What else is with them - I'm nosy as I'm just setting up an african tank.

Bugger - I would change about 20 percent of the water and it will help it cool a bit quicker - I reckon the temp would have gone up slowly and gradually which should have allowed the bacteria to accustom - So hopefully not much damage and anyway your cycling so... Good thing no fish in there.

Try getting the little bugger and sticking him in a floating breeding net until hes needed - say for 2 weeks every 2 months - They can probably do it through the net tho - Don't give up - you will soon have lots of babies every where - sounz like the female may have been heavily pregnant and just the easiest target at the time - I'd vote need more females as well - but you could stick him in jail if its getting up ya - just don't give up on these neat fish.

I have just finished a bottle of aquamaster "plant food" and it seemed to be a good product for my conditions - I might try the seachem this time tho

Suphew is right about fish eating their favorite species of plant first til its gone - then the next favorite - then the next :roll: Silver dollars will do this - ie they eat your plants overnight down to the stalk - or more to the point they pull it to bits and take a wee bite out of every big piece they tear off - You can delay this by feeding them so they are not hungry but delay is the point. Besides that your tank is too small for them really although you could have say five or six baby ones in there if your prepared to go bigger within the next 6 months or so.

You could try Koi Carp - But 60 litres might not be enuff
