Will a bgk less than 10cm be alright in a planted 36"Wx24"Hx18"D with penguin,black widows and cardinal tetras, angelfish, corys,whiptails,BNs and Rams? And how long will it take him to grow big enough to eat them?

knife fish will grow hugebut takes ages i guess

i have seen it with communities so i shouldnt think theres a problem, but they do eat other fish, as you can see their mouth is like a small dog, so big fish cant be eaten. they are nocturnal so when others are sleeping thats when they can cause problems.

also their tail has electrick shocks if they are anoyed

I wouldn't trust a BGK as far as I could throw it with Tetra's. Their mouths are quite a bit larger than they look and even at less than 10cm, it will still be trying to hunt the smaller fish down.

i had 1 in a tank with danios and i hardley ever saw it

i had mine in my guppy tank for a while. didn't notice any decline in gup numbers but there are heaps in the anyway

I wouldn't do it. Wouldn't take very long until it could eat something like a neon.

yea i agree with evil once they get bigger u wont have many neons then

I had one about that size in my community tank with guppies and neons and danios etc. and he never ate any of them.

He was actually really friendly, came out and zipped thru plants and round tank.

Why would you want to put it in a community tank anyway? :-?

my BGK was eating neons at that size. Very happy knifey though lolz.

my bgk use like any tetras he use to take out there eyes then the next night eat them he clean up my black widows tetras in 3 weeks 20 of them one fat bgk .he was fully grow in till i lost a tank 1000l alll over the floor .

we've got 2 about that size and never had any problem with them eating anything other than flake lol

they dont seem interested in the neons or the danios!

my 25cm bgk is fine as long as he is fed his 2 cubes of frozen meat every day, skipping 1 day is tolerated, 2 days results in him eating whichever fish is smallest in the tank at that time, the last one was a 5cm bolivian ram. the one before that a 4cm discus... shame, i was trying to offload those fish as i feared that would happen...

Are you thinking straigt today? i put a few in my tank with oscras to see if they would survive but they were go with in minitues lol
